The Impact You'll Make in this Role
The person hired for the position of Occupational Health Nurse will promote health and well-being of 3M employees through onsite services and programs, implementing population-based programs to manage or improve health.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
  • Become an active team member of the Corporate Occupational Medicine (COM) Department
  • Provide direct care of illness/injury
  • Conduct pre-placement medical evaluations for all potential employees onsite in accordance with company and government policies
  • Maintain the medical surveillance program for the site; conduct HAZWOPER, spirometry, and hearing and vision tests
  • Leads case and care management for employees with work-related or non-occupational illness and/or injury, coordinating with vendor or appropriate parties to determine return to work/disability management plan
  • Leads cross-functional disability management and return to work planning with location management team, advising on legislative and regulatory requirements in relation to medical needs
  • Drive the Health & Wellbeing initiatives for the site
  • Provide employee training on health-related topics
  • Communicates with EHS information regarding work-related illness/injury for incident log management and required government reporting
  • Maintains medical files with preservation of confidentiality; maintains electronic records/reports. Assists in preparing data for management summaries
  • Participate in plant walk-through with the EHS team, providing recommendations for improvements
Basic Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree or higher in Nursing from an accredited institution (completed and verified prior to start)
  • Current, unrestricted, Illinois Registered Nursing license, or the ability to obtain.
  • Three (3) years of combined experience in Occupational Health, Public Health and/or Clinical Nursing in a private, public, government or military environment
  • One (1) year of experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing
  • Experience with local, state and federal regulatory and/or legislative occupational health requirements
  • Minimum of three (3) years of occupational health nursing with direct delivery of services to workers
  • Professional certification(s) such as: Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN-S) , Certified Case Management (CCM), Certified Occupational Hearing Conservationist (CAOHC)
  • Certification in CPR/AED
  • Completed NIOSH approved Spirometry course
  • Computer skills sufficient to create documents, presentations, analyze data, generate reports and provide communications

Travel: May include up to 5% domestic
