What does a disabilities coordinator do?

A Disabilities Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that individuals with disabilities receive appropriate accommodations and support in educational, workplace, or community settings. Additionally, they may provide training to staff, oversee compliance with disability laws, and serve as a resource for students, employees, or clients with disabilities.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a disabilities coordinator, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Disabilities Coordinator, you need a solid understanding of disability laws (such as ADA), case management, and experience in educational or social services, often supported by a relevant degree. Familiarity with accommodation management systems, assistive technologies, and documentation tools is typically required.
