4 Charles Flamingo Club is looking for a full time Sommelier to join our team!

Sommeliers at Hogsalt are considered both wine and service ambassadors who pride themselves on being supportive and proactive team members in all aspects of restaurant service.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 1 to 2 years of experience as a Sommelier in an upscale, high volume restaurant
  • Extensive knowledge of wine and wine service techniques
  • A passion for wine culture & education 
  • A love of wine at all price points 
  • A passion for providing exemplary guest service
  • Ability to identify problems and be solution-oriented regarding service, beverage, and overall restaurant operations.
  • Must be available to work weekends, nights & some holidays
  • Must be able to frequently lift items weighing up to 50 pounds.

Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Progress and refine all areas of service in the restaurant.
  • Communicate professionally and confidently with guests, employees, and leadership. 
  • Complete general administrative tasks including opening and closing duties, menu printing, cellar organization & digital administrative programming.
  • Progress all aspects of the restaurant’s beverage program, including:
    • Execute all beverage-related administrative duties (invoice management, physical and digital menu maintenance, correct pricing on menus and in POS system).
    • Collaborate with the Executive Beverage Director, Wine Director, and Beverage leader on any menu updates.
  • Hold all team members accountable for the cleanliness and organization of all beverage storage areas (liquor/wine room, wine coolers, keg coolers, bars, etc.).
  • Mastery of all beverage programs at the restaurant, including wine, spirits & cocktails.
  • Assist guests with wine, cocktails and champagne selection, consider their taste and budget when guiding them through the menu
  • Provide engaged, friendly and attentive customer service to all guests
  • Inform and explain alternative wine or champagne selections to guests should their choice be unavailable
  • Ensure all wines and champagnes are presented and served correctly and all pouring techniques are adhered to as specified by company standards
  • Anticipate guest needs. Provide information to guests regarding our venues, menus and pricing
  • This position does not include menu development, wine selecting or vendor communication.
