Job Description

Owens-Brockway Glass Container, Inc. is seeking an Assistant Plant Engineer at our glass manufacturing plant in Lapel, IN to conduct inspection, preventative maintenance, and upgrade activities related to all plant systems, production equipment, facilities, and grounds. Direct the application of prescribed safety and environmental regulations, ensuring efficiency and high standards are maintained. Ensure safety corrective actions are implemented. Coordinate and direct engineering personnel on projects related to plant systems, production equipment, facilities, and grounds. Establish estimates and specifications of plant projects, ensuring effective management of department budget. Supervise training of personnel and oversee plant apprenticeship program.

Qualifications

Must have a Bachelor's Degree (or foreign equivalent) in Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field, plus 5 years of progressive post-bachelor's degree experience in a glass manufacturing facility as a Manufacturing Engineer, General Maintenance Coordinator, Electrical Maintenance Coordinator, or related occupation.

The 5 years of progressive post-bachelor's degree experience in a glass manufacturing facility must include 5 years of experience with the following:

1) preparing technical estimates and project management for equipment and process changes within the plant, including determination of the required equipment specifications and materials;

2) conducting preventive maintenance inspections of all plant systems, equipment, facilities and grounds; investigations, including root cause analysis of any safety incidents or interruption on production efficiency; and remedial action to correct deficiencies;

3) designing, programming, installing, maintaining and troubleshooting electrical control systems for the machinery contained within the production line for making the glass products, including regular maintenance inspections, repairing, root cause analysis for any deficiencies and resolution of same. All experience may be acquired concurrently.

Domestic travel required up to 5% for training purposes, to be reimbursed by the employer. In addition, standard benefits will be offered.

Work Hours: Full time (40 hours/week, 8am-5pm, Mon-Fri)
