Energy Management Manager

Lead the systems and teams that help Purdue operate efficiently, reliably, and sustainably.
The Energy Management Manager provides strategic direction and day-to-day leadership for Purdue's energy management operations, balancing reliability, cost efficiency, and sustainability across campus building systems. This role oversees the Building Automation System, manages a team of BAS Console Operators, and partners with campus stakeholders to support controls, commissioning, retro-commissioning, and curtailment planning that strengthen long-term performance .
What You'll Do
  • Provide leadership and strategic direction to the energy management team
  • Oversee the operation and continued development of the Building Automation System
  • Manage a team of four BAS Console Operators and support their development
  • Guide engineering design and oversight for campus building controls, including specifications, sequences of operation, and drawings
  • Oversee commissioning for new buildings, renovations, and system upgrades
  • Evaluate BAS vendors, capabilities, cost structures, and integration with existing systems
  • Manage the retro-commissioning program for internal teams and external contractors
  • Provide oversight of BAS networks and coordinate closely with Purdue IT
  • Develop detailed curtailment plans to reduce demand during extreme weather or utility system issues
  • Support training and development for technicians, operators, and designers

What We're Looking For
Education and Experience Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field preferred, Mechanical Engineering preferred
  • Minimum four (4) years of experience in BAS and HVAC design, maintenance, or operations required
  • Relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a degree

Preferred:
  • Professional engineer license

Skills Required:
  • Knowledge:
    • in the functional operation of BAS and HVAC systems
    • of applicable codes and regulations is required
  • Demonstrated ability to act as a liaison between multiple parties
  • Ability to evaluate and solve complex technical problems utilizing creativity and ingenuity
  • Office and engineering computer skills with the ability to learn new computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and PI archive database
  • Exposed to heat, noise, dust, and hazardous areas around machinery, chemicals, etc. in building mechanical rooms and utility distribution infrastructure
  • Good:
