Job description

Overview
As one of the nation's leading electric transmission line construction companies, MasTec Power Delivery companies engineer and construct efficient and reliable electrical transmission, distribution, and substation & switchyard systems. Our extensive workforce includes both union and nonunion teams, which, combined with our specialized equipment fleet, allows us to effectively meet our clients' needs for power delivery, emergency restoration, and ongoing maintenance. We've been involved in some of the most challenging and recognizable electric projects across the U.S. From the electric plant to the end users, MasTec's experienced managers and crews consistently deliver transmission, distribution, and substation & switchyard services with an unfailing commitment to safety, integrity, and sustainable practices.
The Transmission Line Engineer is responsible for the engineering and design of high-voltage electrical transmission line systems, applying principles of both electrical and civil engineering to develop safe, reliable, constructible, and cost-effective solutions. This role supports the full lifecycle of transmission line projects, from initial design development and engineering analysis through detailed design, documentation, material takeoffs, and constructability review.
The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience designing overhead transmission lines, with the ability to work on projects involving transmission systems up to 500 kV. The Transmission Line Engineer will collaborate closely with project management, engineering disciplines, Sales, customers, and field personnel to ensure designs meet project requirements, applicable industry standards, schedule and budget objectives, and customer expectations.
In addition to performing technical engineering work, this position will provide technical guidance and coordination to other team members, participate in design reviews, and represent the Engineering department in internal and external meetings. The role requires sound engineering judgment, attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to independently manage engineering assignments within a dynamic EPC environment.
