Job description

Job Description:
Senior Director, Trade and Distribution
The Senior Director, Trade and Distribution will lead the design and execution of NewAmsterdam Pharma's U.S. trade and distribution strategy. This individual will serve as the company's trade and distribution subject matter expert and will be responsible for channel strategy, launch readiness, distribution partner management, 3PL oversight, trade operations, and performance tracking. The Senior Director will be an individual contributor reporting to the Vice President, Pricing, Distribution & Value Communications.
As NewAmsterdam Pharma prepares for its anticipated first commercial launch, pending regulatory approval, this leader will play a critical role in building foundational trade and distribution capabilities, establishing launch-ready infrastructure, and ensuring readiness for successful commercialization and ongoing operations. The ideal candidate will translate strategy into scalable operating models, establish productive external partnerships, and collaborate across functions to ensure product availability, channel efficiency, compliance, and a strong healthcare provider and patient experience.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and operationalize NewAmsterdam Pharma's U.S. trade and distribution model, including specialty pharmacy, specialty distributor, wholesaler, retail, mail-order, and 3PL strategies.
  • Lead trade and distribution launch readiness planning to support on-time product availability, compliant order-to-cash processes, effective partner execution, and scalable post-launch operations.
  • Evaluate channel options across pharmacy and medical benefit pathways, site-of-care dynamics, retail and specialty pharmacy channels, and emerging models, including digital, direct-to-patient, and alternate-site care.
  • Identify, assess, recommend, and manage strategic channel partners, including wholesalers, specialty distributors, specialty pharmacies, retail and mail-order partners, 3PL providers, and other service partners.
  • Establish key channel partnerships and negotiate distribution agreements.
  • Ensure product availability, channel efficiency, and alignment with patient access objectives.
  • Partner closely with Supply Chain to enable seamless product flow and launch readiness.
  • Manage 3PL relationships and ensure robust data flows for inventory visibility, demand forecasting, and compliance reporting.
  • Lead RFP processes, partner evaluations, business case development, and recommendations for senior leadership decision-making.
  • Partner with Legal, Finance, Pricing and Supply Chain to negotiate and manage distribution agreements, fee-for-service arrangements, service-level expectations, and compliance obligations.
  • Establish governance routines, operating models, escalation pathways, SOPs with external partners and performance management processes for distribution execution and partner oversight.
  • Define KPIs and leverage trade and distribution data to monitor product availability, inventory, order fulfillment, partner performance, demand trends, and launch execution.
  • Collaborate closely with Supply Chain, Finance, Legal/Compliance, Regulatory, Commercial, and Market Access colleagues to align distribution strategy with broader launch and access objectives.
  • Serve as the internal trade and distribution expert, translating market, policy, channel, and partner insights into practical recommendations for senior leadership and cross-functional teams.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Deep understanding of specialty pharmacy, distributor, and wholesaler channel dynamics, with experience leading trade operations teams responsible for channel management and 3PL oversight.
  • 12+ years of progressive experience in pharmaceutical or biotech trade, distribution, channel strategy, market access, commercial operations, supply chain, or related functions.
  • Balances strategic trade and distribution design with hands-on execution, bringing strong organization, proactive follow-through, and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated experience designing, implementing, or managing U.S. pharmaceutical distribution strategies, including retail and specialty pharmacy, specialty distributor, wholesaler, and 3PL models.
  • Experience supporting product launch readiness and cross-functional launch execution in a pharmaceutical or biotech environment.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. trade channel dynamics, specialty and retail distribution, buy-side economics, channel compliance, pharmacy operations, and product flow across the distribution chain.
  • Experience managing external partners and supporting distribution agreements, fee-for-service arrangements, partner governance, and service-level expectations.
  • Ability to partner effectively with internal stakeholders.
  • Balances strategic design with hands-on execution, is well-organized, proactive and detail oriented
  • Builder mindset with demonstrated ability to establish structure, processes, and scalable capabilities within an emerging commercial organization
  • NAP operates under an on-demand workplace philosophy. This role is predominantly remote; however, in-person attendance at the Philadelphia-area office is required based on business needs, collaboration requirements, and key organizational initiatives rather than a predetermined office schedule. The frequency of onsite participation is expected to increase during commercial launch planning and launch-related activities. Candidates located within commuting distance of Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, are strongly preferred
  • Travel is required based on business needs, including attendance at internal meetings, key company and/or industry events

Salary and Benefits:
We offer a competitive base salary, annual bonus, and long-term incentives. In addition, we provide a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, dental and vision coverage, term life and disability coverage, and retirement plans.
