Key Responsibilities Leads, manages, and executes plasma etch system projects that may have a mix of mechanical, electrical, physics, control system and materials compatibility with common etch chemistries. Be a plasma etch system expert in the business unit applying broad experience and knowledge of etch systems to a novel system architecture.

Responsible for the design, development and implementation of complete engineering programs in accordance with project budgets and release schedules. Develops long-range plans and creates general engineering or product specific strategies to reach goals and reviews engineering specifications. Anticipates future needs and initiates the development and implementation of new approaches to engineering design and development.

Provides guidelines and leadership to engineering teams in the area of long-term program, strategy, and process design. Leads, drives, and manages etch system NPI productivity enablement and HVM readiness. Works with business group management teams to ensure that such programs, strategies, and processes are aligned with the organization's direction.

Defines performance metrics and reports on the engineering functions' progress against specific goals. Interfaces with internal and external customers on engineering issues involving the unit's products. Collaborate cross functionally with product marketing, process/application, engineering, manufacturing, and customer field organizations.

Functional Knowledge Demonstrates broad and comprehensive understanding of plasma etch systems, theories, practices, and process/applications Business Expertise Applies broad industry and commercial awareness to drive financial and operational performance across business unit, department or sub-functions Leadership Leads through subordinate managers; executes segment/functional business plans and contributes to the development of segment/functional strategy Problem Solving Directs the resolution of highly complex or unusual technical and business problems applying advanced analytical thought and judgment Impact Guided by segment/functional strategy, impacts results of a department, business unit or sub-function or facilitates the work done by other segments/functions by providing support to impact the business Interpersonal Skills Negotiates and influences the opinions of others at the senior executive level and in external organizations; exercises sensitivity to the audience Position requires understanding of Applied Materials global Standards of Business Conduct and compliance with these standards at all times. This includes demonstrating the highest level of ethical conduct reflecting Applied Materials' core values. Dynamic, innovated, results oriented skillset, ability to influence at all levels, vocal with opinions Strong problem solving skills with the ability to breakdown using root cause problem solving skills and make recommendations from multiple design options and interpret data to determine system capability Off-hours work at times to support critical activities in different time zones Education: BS in ME, EE, ChemE, Mat Sci, or related area.

Advanced degree preferred Experience: 8-12+ years of etch system experience in semiconductor equipment industry US and international Travel 25-40% Additional Information Time Type: Full time Employee Type: Assignee / Regular Travel: Yes, 25% of the Time Relocation Eligible: Yes The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable. For all sales roles, the posted salary range is the Target Total Cash (TTC) range for the role, which is the sum of base salary and target bonus amount at 100% goal achievement.
