Responsibilities:

JOB SUMMARY
The Director, System Throughput & Platform Optimization leads enterprise wide initiatives focused on improving end to end system throughput, operational efficiency, and platform enabled performance across the care continuum. This role serves as the operational owner for throughput optimization platforms and their adoption, translating enterprise priorities into practical, measurable operational improvement.
A defining feature of the role is continuity of ownership, maintaining consistent focus on platform optimization, adoption, and sustainment to support durable performance improvement over time.
The position works in close partnership with executive leaders, operational leaders, providers, and enterprise transformation teams to improve patient flow, reduce variation, and ensure throughput platforms and associated workflow changes are effectively implemented and sustained.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • System Throughput & Operational Improvement:
    Provide system wide leadership for operational improvement initiatives focused on patient throughput, capacity creation and optimization, and efficiency across inpatient and ambulatory environments
    Partner with hospital operations, executive and senior leaders, nursing leaders, physicians, and other stakeholders to assess current state workflows and identify opportunities to improve patient flow
    Analyze throughput processes and performance to identify variation or constraint and lead the design and implementation of improvements that deliver measurable operational benefit
  • Platform Ownership & Optimization (Qventus and Related Tools):
    Serve as the operational product owner for throughput optimization platforms, including Qventus
    Translate operational needs into prioritized platform use cases aligned with throughput and capacity goals
    Ensure platforms are configured, optimized, and sustained to reflect real world clinical and operational workflows
    Monitor platform performance and utilization to inform ongoing refinement and optimization
  • Change Enablement & Adoption:
    Partner with hospital operations, executives, ancillary services, frontline leaders, and providers to drive adoption of throughput tools and associated workflow changes
    Provide practical guidance, education, and enablement to support consistent and effective use of tools within daily management routines
    Lead and support deployment of throughput optimization solutions using data, workflow assessment, and platform utilization insights.
  • Executive & Provider Partnership:
    Collaborate closely with executive leaders to advance system level throughput priorities and improvement efforts
    Prepare and present clear, actionable insights on throughput performance, platform impact, and opportunities for continued improvement
    Serve as a trusted thought partner to site and system leaders on operating model considerations, workflow design, role clarity, and sustainment approaches
    Support productive vendor partnerships to ensure accurate, actionable data use and alignment with the EMR and clinical workflows
  • Continuous Improvement & Measurement:
    Establish and lead repeatable improvement cycles tied to throughput and efficiency outcomes
    Track progress, outcomes, and lessons learned in partnership with analytics, operations, and transformation teams to support sustained performance improvement.
EDUCATION
  • Bachelors Healthcare administration, business, engineering, nursing, or a related field Required
EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience leading large scale operational and process improvement initiatives in healthcare environments. Required
  • Strong understanding of inpatient and ambulatory operations, patient flow, and throughput principles Required
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with executive leaders, operational leaders, and providers Required
  • Proven capability to translate complex operational challenges into practical improvement solutions Required
  • Experience serving as a product owner or operational lead for healthcare technology platforms Preferred
  • Familiarity with throughput optimization tools such as Qventus or similar platforms Preferred
  • Lean, Six Sigma, or other formal process improvement training or certification Preferred
  • Experience working in a matrixed, system level healthcare organization Preferred
