Job description

Job Description
The Terminal Operator is responsible for operational activities including product sampling and testing, facility inspections, loading and unloading product, emergency response and accurate documentation of activities performed. The Terminal Operator must complete required safety and compliance training and must adhere to all safety and compliance regulations per standard operating procedures.
Duties & Responsibilities (Essential functions are identified in bold and italicized text below.)
  • Must work safely at all times.
  • Operate process-related equipment, perform preventative maintenance of equipment and conduct product quality sampling.
  • Test, perform basic product accounting, measure product, work with flammable corrosive chemicals and load and unload rail tank cars and trucks.
  • Perform duties in accordance with established company operating, maintenance and emergency response procedures, while adhering to state and federal regulations.
  • Perform regular safety inspections as detailed by company policy.
  • Complete and maintain all required records and filing systems.
  • Complete building, yard and property maintenance, to include mowing, weed eating and debris removal.
  • Perform regular safety inspections as detailed by company policy.
  • Regular attendance at the worksite is required.

Position Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Mechanical aptitude is required.
  • Basic computer skills are required.
  • Electrical aptitude is preferred.
  • Possess a strong commitment to personal and job safety.
  • Must demonstrate mechanical aptitude and dexterity in the use of tools and equipment.
  • Good verbal/ written communication skills, decision making skills and strong work ethic.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain and promote good working relationships within a team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to assume responsibility, be flexible, perform duties and handle multiple tasks under potentially stressful and/or hazardous conditions.
  • Must be willing to work overtime and handle call-outs and must live or relocate to within 1 hour response time of job assignment.
  • Must be able to work shift work and be flexible regarding work schedule
  • Must be able to work independently and with a team.
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak the English language at a 12th grade level, perform mathematical calculations required for the job and learn to interpret and comprehend company policies, procedures, safety instructions, and other like documents used in an energy industry environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience/Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record is required.
  • 2 years of LPG experience or combination of work and education is preferred.
  • Terminal loading system experience is preferred.
  • Technical certification or equivalent training/experience in a processing plant, pipeline or similar industry is desired.
  • Training to be attended after employment: TTC Bureau of Explosives, Homeland Security Chemical Awareness, STS Fire Prevention, Hazwoper Training and other training as directed.

Travel
Some travel may be required to support other terminal locations.

  • The employee must frequently position, transport and/or move up to 50 or more pounds, with or without assistance from others or mobile lifting devices.
  • Must be physically able to climb tank stairways and truck ladders.
  • Possess the ability and agility to safely climb on tanks and safely perform work from ladders, catwalks, or other elevated surfaces.
  • The ability to withstand outdoor work environment to include heat, cold, rain and wind.
  • Ability to utilize hand tools, measuring devices, and to accurately interpret readings and accurately distinguish colors on gauges, meters, thermometers, sensors, tape measures, and other measuring devices.
  • Ability to accurately distinguish vapors.
  • Ability to walk on uneven terrain and ability to stoop, crawl, climb, bend, reach, perform work overhead, and to use hands to finger or feel.
  • Ability to safely drive or operate automobile and/or other vehicles.
