Director of Spa and Retail About the role: This role requires a dynamic leader in aesthetic taste with the ability to give practical advice on creating a tasteful spa environment with an eye for detail and luxury. They understand market trends and have a proven track record for collaborating with Directors of Marketing to put together sound business plans and supporting action steps. They are articulate and confident, able to advocate the importance and relevance of the spa experience in a resort location. This individual will be responsible for managing staff, ensuring all spa areas are well maintained and in good working order. As well as the guest experience maintained at the expected level, and the department's financial goals are met. This individual is also responsible for creating a wellness sanctuary with year-round programing for locals and hotel guests. Partnering with our retail teams to implement creative seasonal programming for the retail areas. What you will do:
  • Ensures the training of the Spa staff to exceed standards. Ability to work with Learning Manager and Designated Trainers to achieve the best possible learning environments for spa and retail staff.
  • The ability to be responsible for the administration of goods, requisitions, inventories, storage and cost-effective usage of all department related materials and assets, according to standards to ensure for smooth operation.
  • The ability to issue recommendations regarding the annual operating budget, capital investment budget, operating planning, and further periodic evaluations of financial performance, including reports on sales and operations with supporting statistical data.
  • The ability to maintain operating criteria/spa concepts and be responsible for the coordination and scheduling of all Spa related services in relation to consistency with policies, philosophy and objectives for the Spa.
  • The ability to interview and select job applicants as well as effectively supervise, discipline, mentor and give performance evaluations for Spa employees and convey clear instructions and guidance to staff and establish working relationships that attain a high level of effective employee morale.
  • The ability to participate in regular staff meetings to keep employees informed of hotel policies and changes as well as ways to increase sales and service.
  • The ability to work closely with Engineering Housekeeping, and Laundry, to maintain quality and mechanical operation, cleanliness and special requirements of all Spa equipment and facilities.
  • The ability to keep the Resort Manager informed about the department, all employees' performance, and guests concerns and comments and assist with other duties as needed.
  • Oversight of retail products and purchasing in multiple areas to balance in-house inventory.
  • Development and training of wellness programming and services.
What you bring:
  • Minimum 5 years management experience in a luxury Spa.
  • Demonstrates superior knowledge and passion of spa, wellness, and holistic modalities.
  • Thorough knowledge of 5-star service standards, effective application of spa staffing models, proven ability to create and implement spa service menus, effective retail management, successful marketing strategies, and demonstrated ability to project costs, revenue and to adhere to the budget that supports monthly / annual financials.
  • A proven record of being able to schedule staff and complete payroll records and reports in accordance with budgeted guidelines.
  • A record of promoting growth through increasing revenue and daily operational efficiency while maintaining healthy spa morale.
  • Fluency in English is required for this location and this job requires applicants to have current work authorization in the in the United States.
