Job description

Director, Software Engineering (Security)

As a Director of Software Engineering, you'll work on everything from security platforms to cloud and software development, building Capital Oneโ€™s future state security capabilities. You will lead the creation of a future-state Security Service Edge (SSE) and network security platform designed to abstract and simplify complex security functions across the enterprise. Moving beyond traditional siloed security, you will build a highly scalable, low-latency, and selfโ€‘service platform that handles everything from Web Application Firewalls and Bot Protection to Network Access Control.

You will:

  • Lead, manage and grow multiple teams of product focused software engineers.
  • Build software services and platforms.
  • Mentor and guide the professional and technical development of engineers on your team.
  • Work with product managers to understand desired application capabilities and testing scenarios, vendor technology recommendations and evaluations.
  • Implement software engineering best practices and continuously improve them.
  • Work within and across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions across a full-stack development tools and technologies.
  • Lead the craftsmanship, availability, resilience, and scalability of your solutions.
  • Bring a passion to stay on top of tech trends, experiment with and learn new technologies, participate in internal and external technology communities, and mentor other members of the engineering community.
  • Encourage innovation, implementation of cuttingโ€‘edge technologies, inclusion, outsideโ€‘ofโ€‘theโ€‘box thinking, teamwork, selfโ€‘organization, and diversity.
  • Work across to improve the velocity of your and other teams.
  • Lead efforts to deploy new and existing applications into AWS environments.
  • Break existing monolithic applications into micro service architectures and build new microservices.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelorโ€™s Degree
  • At least 7 yearsโ€™ experience in software development
  • At least 5 yearsโ€™ experience in people management
Preferred Qualifications
  • Masterโ€™s Degree in Computer Science or a Masterโ€™s Degree in Software Engineering
  • 10+ years of experience in software development
  • 5+ years of experience in Agile practices
  • 3+ years of experience in security engineering and architecture
  • 3+ years of experience with networking (BGP, Wiโ€‘Fi, SDโ€‘WAN, cloud networking and data center networking)
