In this role, you will lead an organization across multiple teams including User Reporting, User Appeals, Business Appeals and Community Notes, spanning Menlo Park and London. You will drive the technical vision and execution for the Integrity related user experiences including AI-driven user chat that transforms how users interact with our integrity systems. This is an opportunity to combine deeply technical front-end expertise and AI know-how with organizational leadership, delivering user experiences at massive scale while advancing Meta's mission to protect our community.
Director, Software Engineering Responsibilities:

  • Drive technical excellence in front-end engineering and user experience across all team deliverables
  • Build and scale the engineering organization by attracting, developing, and retaining engineering leaders (M2s) and senior individual contributors

  • Champion AI/ML integration into user-facing integrity experiences, particularly the chat experience initiative
  • Manage distributed teams across multiple geographies, ensuring effective collaboration between MPK and London-based reports
  • Establish a self-reinforcing team culture that values engineering craft, operational excellence, and continuous improvement
  • Drive org health by proactively diagnosing and addressing issues surfaced through team feedback, attrition signals, and manager effectiveness data
  • Represent engineering perspective in executive-level planning and strategic decision-making for Integrity initiatives

Minimum Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on front end or UI development
  • 7+ years of engineering management experience, including managing engineering managers
  • Track record of building and scaling engineering organizations, including recruiting, developing, and managing the performance of engineers and engineering leaders
  • Experience establishing technical strategy and roadmaps across multiple teams with demonstrated ability to drive execution against them
  • Experience forming cross-functional partnerships across product, design, and data science to deliver large-scale engineering outcomes

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience leading engineering teams through significant platform or tooling transitions, including the adoption of AI-augmented development workflows
  • Experience managing distributed or geographically dispersed engineering organizations
  • Track record of contributing to org-wide or company-wide initiatives such as recruiting programs, engineering culture, or site leadership efforts
