Job description

Paysafe is a global payments platform powering the experience economy, with a strong focus on the iGaming, video gaming, e-commerce, retail, travel and hospitality sectors. With 30 years of expertise in payment technology, Paysafe helps businesses and consumers lift every experience through seamless, secure payment solutions, including card payments, digital wallets such as Skrill, eCash solutions like PaysafeCard, and a suite of local payment methods. With approximately 2,900 employees across 12 countries and annualized transactional volume of $167 billion in 2025, Paysafe connects people and businesses worldwide through innovative digital payment experiences.
Paysafe is seeking an execution-driven Director of Software Engineering to lead teams building and operating high-availability, real-time fintech platforms. This role is for a hands-on engineering leader who excels at delivery, operational rigor, and running systems where downtime and latency directly impact revenue.
You will lead multiple teams, drive predictable execution, and ensure our payment platforms operate with fintech-grade reliability, security, and scale.
What You'll Do
  • Own end-to-end execution across multiple engineering teams, ensuring consistent delivery against commitments.
  • Lead teams responsible for always-on, high-transaction-volume systems with strict SLA, latency, and correctness requirements.
  • Drive operational excellence: incident readiness, post-incident reviews, release quality, and production hygiene.
  • Partner closely with Product, Architecture, SRE, Security, and Compliance to deliver safely in a regulated environment.
  • Coach and develop engineering managers, setting clear expectations around ownership, accountability, and execution.
  • Identify and remove delivery bottlenecks-technical, organizational, or process-related.
  • Provide clear, data-driven updates on delivery health, risks, and trade-offs to senior leadership.

What We're Looking For
  • 10+ years of software engineering experience, including significant time leading teams in execution-heavy environments.
  • Proven experience operating high-availability, high-throughput systems, ideally in fintech, payments, or financial services.
  • Strong background in modern software delivery (cloud platforms, CI/CD, DevOps).
  • Experience leading managers and scaling execution across multiple teams.
  • Comfortable leading through production incidents, tight timelines, and regulatory constraints.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence across functions and levels.

Nice to Have
  • Direct experience with payment processing, gateways, authorization flows, or real-time transaction systems.
  • Background in distributed systems, microservices, or event-driven architectures.
  • Experience in PCI-regulated or security-sensitive environments.

Why Paysafe
  • Work on platforms that process hundreds of billions in annual transaction volume.
  • Lead teams where engineering execution directly impacts customers and revenue.
  • Solve complex reliability and scale challenges in a real-world fintech environment.
