Reporting to the Director, Materials Management, your Purchasing Manager expertise will help us produce world-class heating and boiler solutions for our clients. Specifically, by coordinating, organizing, and overseeing all activities involved in the identification, acquisition, production, and distribution of the company's goods. This is not a remote role, the role will be based in Morristown, TN. Requires at least 30-40% travel between our two locations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following; other duties may be assigned.
• Manages the supply chain and purchasing functions for Vapor Power's two divisions/locations.
• Collaborates with other departments and stakeholders to identify and maintain resources needed to establish and provide an effective supply chain.
• Develop an appropriate supply chain strategy to maximize production effectiveness and customer satisfaction at the lowest possible cost.
• Leads the supply chain team in executing best practices and measuring performance through agreed upon Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
• Directs and coordinates global supply chain functions through strategy, profitability maximization, and KPIs resulting in the maximization of customer satisfaction.
• Plans, manages, and coordinates all activities related to the sourcing and procurement of necessary materials and supplies needed to meet the changing levels of product demand.
• Develop an effective supplier base that minimizes cost and maximizes quality and responsiveness.
• Develop and align Supply Chain's KPIs to support overall strategic goals.
• Develop and implement best-in-class purchasing and material planning processes to support KPIs.
• Train, develop, and mentor teams to provide promotable candidates for succession planning.
• Monitor and adjust plans and forecasts via monthly, quarterly, and annual process with other department heads.
• Monitors the performance of suppliers, assessing their ability to meet quality and delivery requirements; identifies and qualifies new suppliers in collaboration with other departments.
• Issue purchase orders as needed
• Coordinate and manage outside processors for subcontracted materials and assemblies.
• Implement best-in-class supply chain practices to supply chain performance and risks.
• Maintains require quantity of supplies and materials to optimize production.
• Must be comfortable with travel between Chicago and Morristown locations on a continuous basis.
• Team player, aligned with the success of the company goals.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
• BS Degree in engineering, supply chain management, or business administration, with MBA desirable.
• Experience with Infor XA and/or mainstream ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, etc.), and AS400/RPG system a plus.
• Engineered-to-order experience in an industrial capital goods environment (high mix/low volume) is highly desirable.
• A minimum of 7 to 10 years of experience with progressive responsibility in leading the purchasing / supply chain function.
• A minimum of 5 years previous managerial experience is required.
• Candidate must be authorized to work in the U.S. (no visa sponsorships).

Physical Demands:

• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
• Must be able to access and navigate all areas in the facility and access all machinery.
Work Environment:
This position must perform tasks that involve some office exposure sitting behind a desk performing tasks on a computer. Most of his/her time, the position will spend time in the plant with low to moderate exposure to noise, heat, and cold environment, other physical requirements include walking, bending, hand dexterity, speaking, seeing, and lifting/moving up to 20 pounds. Steel toe shoes, earplugs and safety glasses are always required while on the production floor.
