Director, Risk Management
The Opportunity
  • Director, Risk Managementat a growth-oriented downstream energy company

  • Execute commodity hedges on electronic exchanges and with swap counterparties
  • Gain unparalleled exposure by working closely with executive leaders on high-impact initiatives
  • Reporting to the Vice President, Mid Office, the Director, Risk Management role will be responsible for identifying, quantifying and mitigating Par's commodity-related cash flow exposures.

Key activities include:
  • Maintain updated exposure positions and mark-to-market reports for each key risk category and strategy.
  • Execute hedges as required and capture hedge transactions on timely basis.
  • Serve as the risk liaison to the Commercial team, proactively monitoring exposure changes and providing insights to support informed business decisions.
  • Serve as the risk liaison for Treasury team regarding futures margin requirements, swap and option settlements and bank intermediation agreement exposures.
  • Lead the development of weekly risk reporting for senior management, communicating key risks, exposures, and mitigation strategies.
  • Partner with the Accounting team to review monthly hedging transactions, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and alignment with financial reporting requirements.
  • Prepare and deliver quarterly risk management summaries for the Board of Directors Audit Committee, providing executive-level insights into the company's risk profile and mitigation strategies.
  • Support the identification and implementation of improvements to Par's commodity risk management processes.
  • Provide look-back analyses on the various risk mitigation strategies to ensure hedge effectiveness.
  • Analyze historical market data, as needed, to develop hedge recommendations.

Qualifications
To meet the basic qualifications for this role, you will have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship.
Additional qualifications include:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field required; Master's degree preferred
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in commodity risk management in an industrial, energy-related, trading or investment banking environment either as a risk manager, front office trader, or originator preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of experience executing futures on ICE and CME, and OTC energy swaps and options with investment bank or trading counterparties required
  • Minimum 7 years of experience leading, developing, and mentoring high-performing teams in a fast-paced, commercially focused environment required
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including financial modeling, data analysis, and time-series modeling techniques required
  • Demonstrated expertise in economic analysis, profit and loss (P&L) management, position management, hedging strategy development, risk optimization, and decision supportrequired
  • Experience with commodity trading and risk management (CTRM) or trade capture systems, with the ability to leverage technology to support trading, risk analysis, and reporting preferred
