Overview

The Director of Quality & Risk Management provides strategic leadership and oversight for Duncasterโ€™s Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI), risk management, regulatory compliance, patient/resident safety, and accreditation programs. This position develops, implements, and evaluates an integrated quality and risk management framework that promotes excellence in resident care and services while ensuring compliance with accreditation, regulatory, life safety, and risk management requirements. The Director partners with teams throughout Duncaster to foster compliance and continuous improvement.

Essential Functions
  • Leads and oversees Duncasterโ€™s QAPI and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) programs to drive excellence in resident care, services, and operational performance.
  • Develops, monitors, and reports quality and safety metrics, dashboards, benchmarks, and performance indicators; analyze trends and implement corrective actions to improve outcomes.
  • Leads campus wide performance improvement initiatives using evidence-based quality methodologies, including Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) processes.
  • Directs the Risk Management Program by identifying, assessing, and mitigating clinical, operational, regulatory, and financial risks across all levels of care.
  • Investigates adverse events, lead root cause analyses, oversees risk assessments, and implements strategies that promote resident safety, employee safety, and accountability.
  • Develops, implements, and monitors quality, risk management, and compliance policies, procedures, and action plans to ensure measurable and sustainable outcomes.
  • Maintains organizational compliance with CARF accreditation standards, CMS requirements, state and local regulations, life safety standards, and insurer risk management expectations.
  • Leads accreditation and regulatory readiness activities, including surveys, audits, mock reviews, evidence collection, plans of correction, and ongoing monitoring of corrective actions.
  • Chairs and coordinates interdisciplinary quality and risk management committees, fostering collaboration and accountability across clinical, operational, and support departments.
  • Serves as a strategic advisor to leadership team by presenting quality, risk, compliance, and safety data; recommending improvement initiatives; and supporting organizational decision-making and regulatory excellence.
  • Serves as intermediatory between Duncaster and direct care contractors.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Quality Management, or related field is required. Masterโ€™s degree is preferred.
  • 7 years of progressively responsible healthcare quality and/or risk management leadership experience is required.
  • Must be able to travel out of state at least twice per year to attend required conferences.
  • Demonstrated experience with regulatory surveys, healthcare accreditation, and leading quality improvement initiatives is required.
  • CCRC experience is preferred.
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write the English language in an understandable manner.
  • Must have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Hours

Full-time, 1st shift: Monday-Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm - 40 hours per week
