Position Summary

Reporting to the Chief Information Officer, the Director of Enterprise Applications & Quality Engineering is responsible for leading the engineering delivery, integrations, Quality Engineering, operational governance, and continuous optimization of the organization's enterprise application ecosystem.

This role provides technical leadership across enterprise platforms including CRM, ecommerce, CMS, LMS, payment, integration, and supporting digital application ecosystems. The Director collaborates closely with the Digital Platforms team to ensure enterprise platforms are scalable, integrated, secure, operationally mature, and capable of supporting evolving digital experience and business transformation initiatives.

The Incumbent will lead cross-functional engineering, integration, and Quality Engineering teams responsible for enterprise application development, integration architecture, automation, testing, release management, monitoring, performance engineering, and operational reliability.

This role requires deep expertise in enterprise integrations, API-first architectures, modern Quality Engineering practices, AI-enabled software engineering, DevSecOps, CI/CD, and platform reliability within complex digital ecosystems.

The ideal candidate combines strong engineering leadership, enterprise delivery governance, integration architecture expertise, and operational discipline with hands-on experience supporting modern digital platforms and composable application ecosystems.

The Incumbent will serve as a key engineering and operational leader ensuring enterprise applications, integrations, Quality Engineering practices, automation frameworks, and operational engineering capabilities effectively support the organization's broader digital transformation strategy and will also champion the organization's culture, collaboration, accountability, innovation, and inclusion initiatives across distributed technical teams.

Responsibilities
  • Lead engineering delivery, operational governance, support, and continuous optimization of enterprise application platforms and supporting digital ecosystems.
  • Collaborate with the Digital Platforms team to support enterprise digital initiatives, platform modernization, ecommerce enablement, member experience enhancements, and composable architecture strategies.
  • Ensure enterprise systems are scalable, secure, integrated, operationally mature, and aligned to evolving business and digital platform needs.
  • Support modernization initiatives focused on automation, platform scalability, operational efficiency, API enablement, and digital ecosystem integration.
  • Establish and maintain governance standards, SDLC practices, support models, release processes, and operational SLAs across enterprise engineering teams.
  • Lead enterprise integration strategy supporting interconnected digital platforms, enterprise applications, ecommerce ecosystems, learning platforms, and member experience systems.
  • Oversee enterprise integration platforms and service-layer technologies including MuleSoft, Azure Integration Services, Azure Service Bus, APIs, middleware, and event-driven architectures.
  • Lead and evolve enterprise Quality Engineering practices across web, mobile, API, integration, and platform ecosystems.
  • Oversee automated testing tooling and frameworks including Virtuoso, Selenium, Appium, API testing frameworks, and AI-assisted testing solutions.
  • Lead CI/CD, release governance, deployment automation, and DevSecOps best practices across enterprise engineering teams.
  • Drive standards for environment governance, source control management, deployment orchestration, rollback procedures, and production mirroring.
  • Lead adoption and governance of AI-assisted software engineering and Quality Engineering practices.
  • Establish standards for load testing, stress testing, synthetic monitoring, application telemetry, observability, and proactive alerting.
  • Manage external systems integrators, consulting partners, offshore development teams, and technology vendors.
  • Perform miscellaneous duties, as required.
Management Responsibility
  • Lead, mentor, coach, and scale high-performing distributed engineering and Quality Engineering teams.
  • Provide technical leadership across enterprise application engineering, integrations, Quality Engineering, release management, and platform operations.
Qualifications
  • Deep expertise leading enterprise application engineering, integrations, and Quality Engineering organizations within complex digital ecosystems.
  • Strong understanding of SDLC, SSDLC, CI/CD, DevSecOps, Agile delivery, and enterprise delivery governance.
  • Expert-level knowledge of enterprise integration patterns, APIs, middleware, and service-layer architectures.
  • Expertise with automated testing frameworks and tooling including Virtuoso, Selenium, Appium, API automation, and AI-assisted testing platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of performance testing, load testing, synthetic monitoring, observability, and operational monitoring platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud-native architectures, composable platforms, headless ecosystems, and enterprise application modernization strategies.
  • Expertise with enterprise development platforms including Salesforce, .NET, Java, APIs, and modern integration technologies.
  • Experience working with AI tools or a demonstrated willingness to learn.
Education and Work Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related discipline, required. Master's degree, preferred.
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in enterprise technology leadership, software engineering, integrations, or Quality Engineering.
  • 10+ years of people leadership experience managing high-performing technical teams.
  • Experience leading enterprise application ecosystems within complex digital organizations.
  • Experience managing blended onshore/offshore engineering and QA teams.
  • Experience implementing enterprise Quality Engineering and test automation programs required.
  • Experience with ecommerce, payment, member/customer experience, and digital platform ecosystems preferred.
  • Experience supporting enterprise LMS, certification, or learning platforms preferred.
  • Experience supporting LMS, certification, training, or learning platform ecosystems preferred.
  • Experience managing global distributed teams, systems integrators, and offshore delivery partners.
  • Strong experience with MuleSoft, Azure Integration Services, Azure Service Bus, API management, RESTful APIs, event-driven architectures, and enterprise integrations.
  • Experience leading modern Quality Engineering organizations focused on automation, performance engineering, and continuous quality practices.
  • Experience implementing and governing AI-enabled engineering and automation practices within enterprise environments.
  • Strong experience supporting enterprise digital ecosystems including ecommerce platforms, payment systems, CMS platforms, customer/member-facing applications, and integrated digital experience technologies.
Physical and Mental Demands
