Overall Responsibilities: The Director of Program Management is responsible for overall program management and is accountable for execution, customer satisfaction and financial performance through the day to day supervision of the Program Management Team. Role will facilitate the successful interface between the customer and the internal organization for the planning, processing and implementation of orders. The goal is to ensure every program will be delivered successfully and add value to the organization by driving high standards of business performance via collaboration and coordination across all functions within the site.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary interface between the Program Management Team staff and the Site Vice President/ General Manager and CEO staff;
  • Responsible for Owner of high-level relationship management
  • Establish with the Program Management staff the broad set of requirements that must be met by the functions in order to fulfill the Program Plan
  • Initiate and set goals for programs according to the strategic objectives of the organization
  • Responsible to lead the Program Management team and the programs they are managing
  • Establish the overall program budget and schedule controls for achievement
  • Responsible for managing the cost, schedule and technical performance requirements of multiple programs through all phases from inception to completion
  • Plan the programs from start to completion involving deadlines, milestones and processes to ensure program objectives are achieved.
  • Establish with the staff, effective schedule and cost controls, monitor and assess performance, identify problems, and institute corrective actions as required
  • Responsible for customer satisfaction which includes maintaining customer communication and overall management of the customer relationship
  • Coordinate or delegate, as required, internal and customer coordination of activities in order to assure performance to plan
  • Coordinate and evaluate with the staff, financial and other trade-off analyses required for reaching decisions with respect to proposed changes in the program
  • Refine the overall Program Plan, as required, to reflect on-going status, achievement and program changes
  • Measure and report to Site VP/GM and staff, on a regular basis, the status and achievements of the Program Management staff
  • Advise the Site VP/GM and staff relative to the impact of performance, and other deviations from plan
  • Assign department staff, on an individual basis, responsibilities for each segment of work to be performed
  • Monitor the program to detect or anticipate conditions which threaten achievement of Program Plan
  • Manage the required corrective actions necessary when programs schedule or margins are impacted and/or conflicts of priorities occur
  • Keep VP/GM and staff advised of recovery action status and results
  • Conduct and attend meetings as required by position
  • Assist the staff in formulating the Product Line Plan and in making necessary changes to the Plan.

  • Conduct employee coaching and counseling sessions as required

  • Ensure that all employee receive training appropriate for their position

  • Work with all other functional leaders in orchestrating successful wins to support company growth and profit objectives.

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 10 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Graduate Degree and a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience preferred


Experience:

  • Over 8 years, up to and including 12 years.
  • Experience Planning, organizing, and directing.
  • Objective thinker, problem solver with ability to execute challenging tasks to completion.
  • Able to provide/reinforce the credibility and commitment of SMTC at appropriate executive levels within the customer community.
  • Ability to organize and coordinate customer visits, participation in appropriate symposiums and trade shows.
  • Understanding of the customer procurement processes and government funding approval.
  • Ability to make effective decisions regarding the profitability and achievability of pursuits.
  • Experience leading/managing diverse teams. Requires knowledge in the manufacturing arena/product operations environment
  • Practical knowledge of project management required
  • PMP Certification, Six Sigma Training a plus

Physical/Mental Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods while managing program plans, analyzing data, and communicating with internal teams and customers.
  • Regularly moves within office and production areas to oversee program execution and facilitate cross-functional collaboration.
  • Frequently operates office productivity equipment, including a computer, to track project progress, review schedules, and generate reports.
  • Communicates effectively with internal teams, executive leadership, and customers to align program objectives and resolve issues.

Travel:

  • Occasionally travels to customer locations, supplier sites, and company facilities to support program management activities, around 10%.
