Job description

AFP Management Corporation is looking for an experienced Director of Rooms for our Doubletree by Hilton Hotel located in Rochester, NY.   This is an exciting opportunity to show your skills and shine with this great team!

The Doubletree by Hilton Rochester features an open glass enclosed tropical atrium setting in addition to having a full-service restaurant on site, with 249 guestrooms, along with over 12,000 sq. ft of meeting space. We are excited to announce a renovation and new look in 2025!

We are conveniently located off I-390 and north of the New York State Thruway, in addition to downtown Rochester and the Rochester International Airport.

What you will be doing:

As Director of Rooms, you would be responsible for directing and administering the operations of key guest contact departments in the hotel's continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service and financial profitability. Specifically, you would be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards with direct oversight of the Front Office, Front Desk and Housekeeping Departments. 

  • Direct and administer operations to include, but not limited to daily operations, guest service standards and initiatives, product quality, inventory management and cost controls, merchandising and marketing, systems use management, budgeting and forecasting, department management and meeting participation and facilitation
  • Respond to guest inquiries and requests and resolve guest issues and concerns in a timely, friendly and efficient manner
  • Monitor and develop team member performance to include, but not limited to, providing supervision and professional development, scheduling, conducting counseling and evaluations and delivering recognition and reward
  • Monitor and assess service and satisfaction trends and evaluate and address issues, systems and procedures to make improvements accordingly
  • Recruit, interview and train team members
  • Facilitate and coordinate marketing initiatives, sales site visits and special requests from other departments

Basic Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 3 years Director of Operations or 5 years Hotel Manager/Executive Committee experience
  • Experience supporting a property with $10M or greater in revenue
  • Proven ability to enhance guest services

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in hotel renovations strongly preferred
  • Hilton Full-Service Experience as Director of Operations preferred
  • Hilton PEP,  OnQ, M3 and Birchstreet Experience preferred
  • Thoughtful people leadership skills with proven success in building a strong service culture
  • Hilton brand experience

In accordance with New York State’s Pay Transparency Law (New York State Labor Law Section 194-b) which requires private employers with four (4) or more employees to include a range of pay for all advertised jobs, promotion, or transfer opportunities.   This position pays between $70,000 and $75,000 dependent on experience.
