Description

Position Summary

The Production Supervisor is responsible for leading department-level production operations, including direct oversight of hourly team members, with a strong focus on safety, team development, and consistent delivery of high-quality, food-safe product. Partnering closely with the Quality team and other support teams, this role helps ensure operational standards are met while identifying opportunities to improve processes, reduce waste, and enhance overall productivity.


Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily production operations, ensuring adherence to quality, food safety, and workplace safety standards.
  • Coordinate grinding and packaging department activities in alignment with operational plans and business needs.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources, supervisors, and leads to support staffing needs, coaching, and team performance.
  • Partner with Quality and other support teams to address product quality, production concerns, and process improvements.
  • Support USDA, HACCP, and other food safety, regulatory, or audit requirements within the department.
  • Partner with Maintenance to support equipment readiness, address issues quickly, and minimize downtime.
  • Support equipment, process, and workflow improvements to enhance productivity and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of production data, including yields, downtime, and product performance.
  • Utilize production planning, scheduling, and reporting software to track progress, communicate updates, and support department goals.
  • Lead regular production meetings to communicate updates and priorities, support team engagement, and reinforce expectations.
  • Participate in response activities related to production, food safety, or workplace incidents as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by plant leadership.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in manufacturing, food production, packaging, or related production operations, including leadership or supervisory responsibility.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and support hourly teams in a production environment.
  • Ability to learn and support food safety, quality, and workplace safety requirements, including USDA and OSHA standards.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, make sound decisions, and support consistent production performance.
  • Ability to use computer systems, complete production documentation, and apply basic math related to manufacturing.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate clearly with employees, supervisors, leadership, and support teams.
  • Ability to work a consistent assigned schedule, with occasional flexibility based on production needs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in protein, meat processing, ready-to-eat, or high-volume food production environments.
  • Familiarity with grinders, forming equipment, packaging equipment, or similar production machinery. 
  • Experience partnering with Quality or regulatory partners, including USDA inspectors, in a production environment.
  • Experience participating in HACCP programs, safety committees, or continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Experience using production planning, scheduling, inventory, or reporting software.

Benefits Overview

This role offers a competitive base salary of $65,000-$75,000, with final base salary based on skills, relevant experience, and overall fit for the role. BIH also offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, 401(k) with company match, and paid time off. This role is also eligible for additional rewards, including participation in an annual incentive program based on individual and company performance.
