About The Role

The Program Management Office (PMO) at Zoox is responsible for driving cross‑functional program planning and execution at the highest level. We partner with leaders across the company in vehicle development, system design, software engineering, manufacturing, fleet operations, and business functions to develop and deliver major corporate milestones.

Our program managers contribute to the end‑to‑end success of technical, integrated product milestones involving both of our vehicle platforms: the Toyota Highlander test fleet and Zoox's purpose‑built robotaxi. PMO has teams focusing on AI & Autonomy, Robot Platform Development, Milestone End to End execution, Testing & Performance, and Service/Product readiness. All roles are deeply cross‑functional, collaborative, and interdisciplinary.

The Director, Processes & Tools in PMO will work closely with the VP of Program Management and PMO leadership team to build and scale processes at Zoox, implement tooling and automation, and ensure that we are building the foundational elements upon which Zoox can scale. This will provide visibility to TPMs and other cross‑functional teams, allowing them to track progress towards program milestones and identify critical issues sooner.

In this role, you will:
  • Lead strategic planning and execution across quarterly cycles, guiding teams to finalize goals and deliver trackable product & service milestones
  • Translate top‑down corporate strategy into detailed product roadmaps, timelines, and deliverables, in partnership with leaders across Zoox
  • Build and scale Zoox‑wide program management processes and tools (including: change request processes, Jira dashboards, issue burn‑down charts), which will enable 180+ TPMs & PMs to highlight, track, and drive issue resolution for their domains
  • Drive resource management in alignment with Finance, helping cross‑functional teams define and track resource requirements
  • Develop and refine existing issue management processes to run R&D activities and live operations
Qualifications
  • BS or MS degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent experience
  • 15+ years of experience in engineering, program management, or management consulting with a focus on process rollouts and product launches
  • Success in driving complex SW/HW integration processes and optimizations, and leading complex cross‑functional programs end to end
  • Proficiency in tools or processes required to manage complex projects (i.e. Gantt charts, risk matrices, Smartsheet, JIRA, etc.)
  • Excellent written, presentation and verbal communication skills are a must, ability to create visualizations of KPIs and program risks
Bonus Qualifications
  • PMP or equivalent
  • Experience with autonomous vehicles, test platforms, simulation, and/or automotive or aerospace processes is highly desired
  • Experience with developing and scaling strategy, processes, plans, procedures, reporting and handling escalations
  • Experience building strong working relationships with leaders and executives
  • Experience creating new processes from scratch

Compensation: There are three major components to compensation for this position: salary, Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. The salary range for this position is $261,000 to $389,000. A sign‑on bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level. Leveling and positioning within a level are determined by a range of factors, including, but not limited to, a candidate's relevant years of experience, domain knowledge, and interview performance. The salary range listed in this posting represents the range of levels Zoox is considering for this position.
