Job Description Cloud System Administrator Setting/Hours: 100% Remote | Full-time Join trak group in partnering with a growing client in Hamilton, Ohio, that's expanding its Shared Services team. Position Summary We are seeking a Cloud System Administrator to provision, configure, maintain, and support server infrastructure within a managed cloud environment. This role is responsible for the reliability, security, availability, and performance of Windows and Linux systems while providing advanced technical support for clients and internal teams.

The ideal candidate has strong VMware and Windows Server administration experience, excellent troubleshooting skills, and a passion for automation and infrastructure improvement. Key Responsibilities Cloud & Systems Administration Provision, install, configure, and maintain physical and virtual servers within managed cloud environments. Build and rebuild servers, including configuration of hardware, storage, services, directories, and system settings.

Administer Windows Server and Linux operating systems. Support VMware-based virtual infrastructure and related cloud technologies. Configure CPU, memory, storage, and other infrastructure resources based on operational requirements.

Install and configure system software and services supporting customer and internal applications. Monitoring & Infrastructure Support Perform daily monitoring of servers, hardware, system resources, applications, and critical processes. Review system and application logs to proactively identify potential issues.

Monitor scheduled jobs and verify successful completion of backups. Perform ongoing performance tuning, resource optimization, and capacity planning. Prepare performance reports and recommend infrastructure improvements.

Troubleshoot and recover systems following hardware, software, or operating system failures. Security, Patching & Backup Perform regular security monitoring and identify potential system vulnerabilities or intrusions. Apply operating system patches, upgrades, and security updates.

Execute and validate backup operations and support system recovery processes. Create, modify, and remove user accounts according to established procedures. Maintain compliance with system security and operational standards.

Tier III Support & Troubleshooting Provide Tier III technical support for complex infrastructure and systems issues. Investigate and resolve escalated server, operating system, virtualization, and application-related problems. Coordinate incident resolution and communicate effectively with customers, end users, and operations teams.

Support project teams with technical implementation and infrastructure requirements. Automation & Continuous Improvement Develop and maintain system installation, configuration, and operational procedures. Research technologies and recommend improvements to increase reliability, scalability, and efficiency.

Identify opportunities to automate repetitive systems administration activities. Develop scripts and tools using technologies such as PowerShell, PowerCLI, Python, APIs, and JSON. Maintain system standards and contribute to infrastructure best practices.

Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, Information Technology, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered. 5-6 years of systems or application administration experience. Strong experience administering VMware vSphere 5.5 or later

Strong experience with Windows Server and Linux administration, with advanced Windows Server expertise preferred. Experience provisioning, maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing virtual server environments. Strong understanding of server hardware, operating systems, storage, backups, and infrastructure monitoring.

Experience with patch management, security monitoring, and disaster recovery procedures. Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to manage competing priorities and perform effectively under pressure. Preferred Qualifications Experience with VMware vRealize Suite, NSX, VSAN, and/or vCloud Director. PowerShell and PowerCLI scripting experience.

Experience with Python, APIs, CLI tools, and JSON. Experience supporting managed cloud or data center environments. Knowledge of infrastructure automation and configuration management practices.

Experience providing Tier III technical support in a customer-facing environment. Ideal Candidate Profile Experienced systems administrator with strong VMware and Windows Server expertise. Advanced troubleshooter capable of resolving complex infrastructure issues with minimal supervision.
