Job description

Description
The School of International Studies at the University of Oklahoma invites applications for an Adjunct Instructor to teach Beginning Persian on the Norman campus.
The successful candidate will teach an introductory Persian language course designed for students with little or no prior background in Persian. The course meets Monday through Friday for 50 minutes each day. Classes will meet in person Monday through Thursday on the Norman campus, with Friday sessions held virtually via Zoom.
Responsibilities include preparing and delivering engaging daily lessons, teaching beginning-level Persian language skills, supporting students' development in speaking, listening, reading, writing, and cultural competency, assessing student progress, maintaining course records, and communicating regularly with students and the program coordinator.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Applicants must have:
  • Native or near-native proficiency in Persian
  • Strong command of English
  • Experience teaching Persian or another language
  • Ability to teach in person on the Norman campus Monday through Thursday and virtually via Zoom on Fridays
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications
Preference may be given to applicants who have:
  • A university degree in Persian, language pedagogy, applied linguistics, Middle Eastern/Iranian studies, second-language acquisition, or a related field
  • Experience teaching Beginning Persian at the university level
  • Familiarity with communicative and proficiency-oriented language teaching
  • Experience using Canvas or another learning management system
