ACESย is building aย payor strategyย that will defineย the next 3-5ย yearsย of growth. Our objective is to articulate our differentiated clinical and operational value, secure the right contracts at the right rates for each payer, expand value-based partnerships with national and regional health plans, and execute a scalable payer go-to-market strategy that supports long-term growth.ย ย ย

DETAILEDย JOB SUMMARY:ย 

Theย Director of Payor Strategyย & Valueย willย be responsible for co-architectingย and executingย onย ACESโ€™ enterprise payor strategy by leading national and state-level payor contracting, negotiations and relationships; advancing value-based and alternative payment models; translating payor contracts into scalable, compliant operational workflows; and partneringย cross functionallyย with finance, operations, growth, and clinical leadership to driveย the bestย client outcomes,ย clientย growth,ย market expansion andย marginย expansion.ย 

RESPONSIBILITIES*:ย 

Payor Strategyย & Value:ย 

  • Co-architect and implement strategically valuable and economically sustainable payor strategies:ย 

  • Contracting roadmap for commercial payors, Medicaid MCOs, regional centers, school districtsย 

  • Advance value-based and alternative payment models (P4P, bundles, outcomes-based arrangements), translating clinical quality and access metrics into defensible economic valueย 

  • Develop state-specific payor playbooks for priority and emerging marketsย with Field/Growthย Opsย 

  • Execute on payor strategy action plans, includingย buildingย cross functional action plans that maintain or strengthen relationships with key payorsย ย 

  • Set andย manage to geography-specific payor-mix goalsย 

  • Manage payor negotiations end-to-end, including rate setting, contract structure, escalators, carve-outs and amendmentsย 

  • Drive conversations with stakeholders for regular rate review and negotiation, bringing in seniorย executives to support when needed/additiveย 

  • Report-outs on performance, opportunities and risk to executive team and key stakeholdersย ย 

Payorย Relations:ย 

  • Manageย and create win-winย payor relationships,ย serving as the primary interface,ย toย positionย ACESย asย the best in ABAย and aย data-driven partner in early intervention and medically necessary ABA servicesย 

  • Ensure high-level engagement, leveraging ACES leaders toย strategically enhance relationshipsย ย 

  • Represent and advocate for ACES โ€œABA productโ€ย 

  • Identify and mitigate payor-related risk, including adverse policy changes, utilization management friction, denials and reimbursement erosionโ€”proactively escalating and resolving issuesย 

Payor Margin Management:ย 

  • Partner with Data and Analytics team to forecast and evaluate the results of strategic optionsย 

  • Analyze trends for business opportunities and market clinical/business changesย 

  • Modelย rate changes and forecastย payorย mix impacts andย profitability by payor;ย develop perspective on financial levers to pull through payor contracting, e.g.ย indirect hours impact, mid-tiers, overlaps, VBC, etcย

QUALIFICATIONS:ย 

  • Bachelors orย Masterโ€™sย degreeย with 6-10ย yearsย experienceย in professional or multi-site healthcare businessย inย strategicย payor roleย strongly preferredย ย 

  • Alternative payment methodologies experience (e.g. pay for performance, value-based care)ย highly preferredย with demonstrated track record/outcomesย 

  • 3-5ย years demonstrated leadershipย and cross-functionalย experience, preferably withinย aย payorย teamย 

  • High level organizational skills, with strong attention to detailย 

  • Curiosity: Listeningย andย learning mindsetย ย 

  • Distinguished interpersonal, communicationย (oral, written)ย and problem-solving skillsย 

  • Professional selling skills โ€“ able to translate value of ACES clinical product/model to a Payor partnerย 

  • Metrics-Driven: Strong accountability, with proven success in meeting timelines and deliverablesย 

  • Applied behavior analysis (ABA) experience and related licensure a plusย
