Job description

Description Deputy Auditor Examples of Duties Under direction, assists the Manager of Internal Audit in the supervision and coordination of the staff of the division and acts for the Manager of Internal Audit in his/her absence. Plans, organizes, and directs the work of the Auditing Department in the review and appraisal of City programs to assess economy, efficiency, and effectiveness. Directs the audit staff and contractors to perform annual post audits of all fiscal transactions and accounts.

Reviews audit findings and recommendations. Directs the writing of audit reports. Directs the preparation of monthly activities, findings and recommendations.

Conducts audit conferences. Meets with City officials, media, and the public regarding audit conferences and audit organizations. Represents the City in conferences and in professional organizations.

Performs other job-related duties as required. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or Public Administration from an accredited four-year college or university required. Five years of full-time relevant paid experience in auditing or accounting required.

Must have a knowledge of governmental auditing standards, specifically: accounting and auditing principles, organizational theory principles, Generally Applied Accounting Principles (G.A.A.P.), applicable laws, rules, and regulations, as well as public administration principles. Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of thirty (30) pounds. Valid state of Ohio Driver's License required

Supplemental Information The City of Cleveland is seeking a Deputy Auditor to join the Internal Audit in a key role supporting the department and Manager of Internal Audit. This position is critical in the review and appraisal of City programs to assess economy, efficiency, and effectiveness. With impeccable written and verbal communication skills and a keen attention to detail and accuracy, the Deputy Auditor will be responsible for: Planning, organizing and directing the work of audit staff within Internal Audit Reviewing audit findings and making recommendations Directing and writing audit reports Developing the annual Audit Plan through the risk assessment Conducting research to complete audits that may involve a multitude of public departments, vendors, and unions Coordinating, directing, and completing complex routine and non-routine (as requested) audits Overseeing the audit management software, which includes: establishing risks and controls, reviewing narratives and workpapers, allocating and monitoring assignments, and reviewing reports and results prior to publication Learning and understanding the multifaceted governmental auditing standards, specifically: accounting and auditing principals, organizational theory, G.A.A.P., applicable laws, rules and regulations and public administration principals The successful Deputy Auditor for The City of Cleveland will require: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
