Senior Maintenance Engineer - JLL

This strategic Senior Maintenance Engineer role is your opportunity to shape the operational excellence of complex building systems for a leading pharmaceutical client. You'll lead hard services operations and cutting-edge reliability maintenance programs that keep critical facilities running at peak performance. This position combines technical leadership with strategic thinking-you'll direct maintenance teams, implement predictive technologies, and drive cost optimization initiatives while ensuring zero compromise on safety or compliance. At JLL, you'll be at the forefront of facilities innovation, applying advanced maintenance methodologies to deliver measurable business impact. This role offers visibility, influence, and the chance to elevate facility operations to best-in-class standards.

What your day-to-day will look like:

  • Leading your team of Reliability and Maintenance Engineers, providing technical guidance, performance coaching, and strategic direction to ensure operational excellence across all building systems.

  • Overseeing comprehensive maintenance operations for HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and life safety systems, ensuring optimal performance, regulatory compliance, and seamless coordination between maintenance activities and client operations.

  • Implementing and managing predictive maintenance technologies including vibration analysis, infrared thermography, and ultrasound testing to identify potential equipment failures before they impact operations.

  • Developing Root Cause Failure Analysis protocols and establishing Equipment Criticality Rankings to prioritize maintenance resources, minimize downtime, and extend asset lifecycles.

  • Analyzing work order metrics, conducting regular facility audits, and identifying cost savings opportunities while maintaining the 100% uptime standards critical to pharmaceutical operations.

  • Ensuring strict adherence to OSHA regulations, state and local building codes, JLL Safety Policies, and industry-specific pharmaceutical compliance requirements through systematic monitoring and team training.

  • Serving as the primary client liaison for facility operations, translating technical complexities into clear communications and building trusted relationships through proactive problem-solving and exceptional service delivery.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, industrial engineering, or related field

  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on technical experience with building engineering systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical infrastructure, and life safety equipment.

  • Minimum 5 years of proven supervisory or management experience, demonstrating the ability to lead technical teams, manage performance, and drive operational results.

  • Fluency in English and Spanish, with demonstrated ability to communicate technical information, lead bilingual teams, and provide client service in both languages.

  • Extensive working knowledge of engineering principles, building management systems (BMS), computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS), building automation controls, and predictive maintenance technologies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or other highly regulated industry environments with stringent compliance and uptime requirements.

  • Professional certifications such as Certified Facility Manager (CFM), Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP), or CertifiedReliabilityLeader(CRL)

  • Demonstrated experience implementing and managing reliability maintenance programs, including predictive technologies (vibration analysis, thermography, ultrasound) and Root Cause Failure Analysis methodologies.

  • Advanced knowledge of energy management strategies, sustainability initiatives, and utility optimization programs that drive operational cost reduction.

  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies, or continuous improvement frameworks applied to facility operations.

  • Proficiency with advanced CMMS platforms, IoT-enabled building systems, and data analytics tools for maintenance optimization and performance reporting.
