Director of Training needed for fast-paced Tex-Mex restaurant!


RESPONSIBILITIES & SPECIFIC TASKS

  • Develop, maintain and revise materials and systems for hourly Team Members and Management training programs
  • Identifying and assessing future and current training needs
  • Drawing an overall or individualized training and development plan
  • Deploying a wide variety of training methods
  • Implementation and monitoring all training methods and aspects
  • Engage, monitor & guide participants in the Manager-In-Training program. From orientation to completion by tracking, reviewing and validating completion of program requirements
  • Maintain records and prepare reports to evaluate performance and monitor progress of trainees
  • Participate in new restaurant openings by organizing training schedules, creating specialized training materials and providing operational support as needed
  • Execute store/site visits to perform training and operational audits, inspections, process improvement observations, and provide detailed written feedback for review by leadership team
  • Facilitate classroom sessions to present training information and materials
  • Cross Functional assistance with menus and promotions alongside Marketing, Operations and IT teams
  • Certified Trainer Program
  • In-Store Mgmt ‘Training Managers’ quarterly meetings
  • Weekly reporting of new hires & communication with store managers on progress
  • Administer companywide scheduling platform
  • Administer online waitlist guest management platform
  • Identify and assess future and current training needs through job analysis, career paths, annual performance appraisals and consultation with line managers
  • Draw an overall or individualized training and development plan that addresses needs and expectations
  • Conduct effective induction and orientation sessions
  • Monitor and evaluate training program’s effectiveness, success and ROI periodically and report on them
  • Manage training budget
  • Provide opportunities for ongoing development
  • Resolve any specific problems and tailor training programs as necessary
  • Maintain a keen understanding of training trends, developments and best practices

SKILLS & SPECIFICATIONS

  • Not required, but a nod to working knowledge of the following:
  • Hot Schedules Administration
  • LMS Admin – Schoox, Wisetail or similar
  • LMS Software Creation – Articulate
  • OpenTable Administration
  • Google Suite
  • Proven work experience as a Training Manager, or minimum five years of restaurant operations/management experience
  • Frequent travel around greater Houston area & College Station
  • Skilled in assessment and development of training programs
  • Three years of recent training program design and administration experience, preferably in restaurant industry
  • Track record in designing and executing successful training programs
  • Familiarity with traditional and modern training methods (mentoring, coaching, on-the-job or in classroom training, e-learning, workshops, simulations etc)
  • Excellent presentation and facilitation skills
  • Strong writing and record keeping ability for reports and training manuals
  • Advanced computer skills

WORK SCHEDULE

  • 5-day work week
  • 6-days during new restaurant openings
  • 45-50 hours a week
  • Rotating nights and weekends
