Director of Engineering

We are searching for an experienced Director of Engineering with strong leadership, planning, and organizational skills. If you are a hands-on engineering professional who thrives in a luxury hospitality environment, apply today for our location on Oahu, HI! Title of Position: Director of Engineering


Compensation: $150,000 to $160,000, plus bonus potential and relocation allowance for qualified candidates.


Job Description: The Director of Engineering will provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for all engineering, maintenance, facilities, and infrastructure functions. The Director of Engineering will oversee the maintenance and operation of HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, electrical, water treatment, life-safety, kitchen, laundry, pool, spa, and central plant systems. This individual will develop and manage preventative maintenance programs designed to improve reliability, operational efficiency, and asset longevity.

The Director of Engineering will also oversee capital projects, renovations, infrastructure improvements, departmental budgets, staffing, vendor relationships, and regulatory compliance. This leader will develop and mentor the engineering team, establish departmental goals and performance expectations, manage operating and capital budgets, and partner closely with resort leadership to support operational excellence and exceptional guest experiences.

Qualifications:

  • The Director of Engineering must have a minimum of seven years of progressive engineering or facilities management experience in a hotel, resort, luxury residential, commercial, or similar environment
  • A minimum of five years of leadership experience managing engineering, maintenance, or facilities teams is required
  • Luxury resort or hotel engineering experience is required
  • The Director of Engineering must possess strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, life-safety, pool, spa, and central plant systems
  • Strong experience with preventative maintenance, capital projects, renovations, budgeting, forecasting, and cost control is required
  • The Director of Engineering must be a hands-on leader with excellent planning, organizational, communication, and decision-making skills
  • Experience managing contractors, vendors, consultants, and large-scale projects is required
  • Knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, environmental standards, and emergency preparedness procedures is required
  • A bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field is preferred
  • Experience with CMMS platforms, maintenance management systems, project management software, and Microsoft Office is preferred
