W&A Engineering is a growing, multidisciplinary firm offering civil engineering, landscape architecture, surveying, and program management with offices across the Southeast. We are seeking a Director of Civil to oversee our civil department in Athens, GA. This professional must have experience within the civil site design industry and be able to lead a team of engineers in addition to driving business within the market. From working with clients and across company departments to site visits to producing plans, you’ll be involved in many aspects of the land development process.


Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Establish goals and objectives for the department that align with the company’s overall mission statement
  • Lead and motivate a team of employees to achieve department goals
  • Plan and coordinate the overall work of the department
  • Oversee department and ensure that goals and objectives are met
  • Conduct performance evaluations that are timely and constructive
  • Provide staff training, development, and mentoring as needed
  • Participate in budget development and allocation of funds to ensure that departmental needs are met
  • Guide managers on implementing company initiatives and policies
  • Review and approve employee PTO requests, timesheets, and project billing
  • Create and implement SOPs that enhance production and the QA/QC process
