Job description

THE ROLE

As the Director of Software Engineering for Core Platform, you will lead a 20+ person engineering organization responsible for the foundational architecture that powers FlashBlade's industry-leading data storage solutions. You will champion the convergence of critical metadata systems across our major product lines, advance next-generation data reduction capabilities, and stabilize high-performance resource management frameworks. Collaborating closely with peer engineering organizations, Architecture, and Product Management, your mission is to deliver bulletproof infrastructure that impacts our global platform scale for years to come.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Own FlashBlade's Architectural Foundations: Lead and direct engineering teams responsible for metadata infrastructure, resource allocation, and system configuration layers, ensuring zero-downtime reliability and optimized performance at massive scale.

  • Advance High-Impact Data Reduction: Provide strategic direction and organizational stability to mature an early-stage data reduction capability into a core, market-differentiating product asset.

  • Drive Global Platform Convergence: Direct the cross-functional engineering initiatives to unify critical shared infrastructure across flagship product lines, successfully managing complex architectural dependencies and rigorous testing disciplines.

  • Cultivate and Stabilize Engineering Talent: Act as an intentional leader to your organization by coaching engineering managers, mentoring technical staff, and building a sustainable culture of craft, accountability, and continuous operational improvement.

  • Govern Delivery Health and Operational Rigor: Define and enforce corporate reliability standards, automated testing disciplines, and proactive technical debt management to secure the long-term success of our functional business units.

WHAT YOU BRING
  • Proven Leadership in Scale: Demonstrated success as a battle-tested leader directing multiple engineering teams through subordinate managers, with a track record of stabilizing complex organizations and developing leadership talent.

  • Deep Systems Expertise: Substantial background in systems software, distributed systems, or storage infrastructure, allowing you to engage credibly with senior engineers on complex technical trade-offs.

  • Strategic Change Management: Ability to analyze abstract situations across functional areas, build consensus in sensitive situations, and negotiate critical technical paths across product and architecture partners.

  • Operational Excellence: Strong instincts for enterprise infrastructure health, including budgeting resources, establishing performance requirements, and implementing strategic testing frameworks where correctness is non-negotiable.

  • Location: We are primarily an in-office environment and therefore, you will be expected to work from the Santa Clara, CA office in compliance with Everpure's policies, unless you are on PTO, or work travel, or other approved leave.
