Position Summary

At WECO, the sales team is the engine that drives the global reach of our contract manufacturing solutions. We’re seeking a qualified Director of Sales who can help keep this engine running with their own sales skills as well as leadership of a team of driven sales representatives and customer service representatives. We’re looking for an experienced leader who has strong negotiating skills — someone with a successful track record who can inspire the same performance in others. The role demands a leader who has a sharp mind and an ability to coach, advise, motivate, or replace sales representatives while building and maintaining a high-performance team. We also need an individual that is a strong team player.

This position will oversee and lead the activities of the teams of the Sales and Customer Service departments.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manages Customer Service and Sales teams and day-to-day operations of departments.
  • Participates in direct sales activities, establishing, developing, maintaining and nurturing relationships with key clients and generating leads.
  • Participates in customer facing activities such as sales calls with customers.
  • Directs employees, through subordinate levels of management, engaged in receiving calls and inquiries, investigating, evaluating, and settling complaints and claims of customers.
  • Fully utilizes the company’s CRM
  • Tracks and analyzes sales statistics and customer service metrics based on key quantitative metrics.
  • Reviews and analyzes sales and operational records and reports.
  • Identifies and analyzes customer preferences to properly direct sales efforts.
  • Consults with potential customers to understand their needs; identifies and suggests equipment, products, or services that will meet those needs.
  • Resolves customer complaints, staffing problems, and other issues that may interfere with efficient sales operations.
  • Makes data-informed decisions to drive performance and resource allocation.
  • Prepares sales budget and required forecasts; monitors and approves expenses.
  • Provides leadership to the sales and customer service teams.
  • Hires, trains, motivates and advises regional and local sales managers, Customer Relationship Managers and staff to ensure quotas are met and a timely flow of communication with the customer is on-going.
  • Oversees and directs performance of the sales team, conducting performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
  • Identifies emerging markets to find new sales opportunities.
  • Defines and executes territory sales plans, organizing and overseeing the schedules, territories, and performance of regional and local sales managers.
  • Sets sales quotas and goals.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:

Position Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Business Administration, or related field,
  • OR Comparable record of sales leadership experience required.
  • At least 8 years of experience working in an industrial manufacturing environment and at least 5 years of experience in sales required.
  • Experience selling precision machined products and/or sheet metal fabrication products, including experience with CNC Lathe, Mill, Vertical, Horizontal, and Wire EDM machines to produce machined component parts that weigh between 1 and 10 pounds preferred; and lasers, turrets, press brakes, welding and finishing operations to produce sheet metal fabrications.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Experience with ODOO CRM preferred.
  • Experience with “Paperless Parts” quoting software preferred.
  • Ability to work and function in a team environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent sales and customer service skills with proven negotiation skills.
  • Proven record of success with the entire sales process, from planning to closing.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Ability to travel.
  • Strong understanding of government agencies and aerospace and defense work as well as industrial sales.
  • Knowledge of various materials such as Steel, Aluminum, Titanium, Stainless Steel, Inconel, Hastelloy, copper, and brass.
  • Be able to read blueprints and understand GD&T.
  • Have a strong understanding of the market and be able to identify sales opportunities in the region.
  • Familiarity with NIST scores.
