Job description

DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS

Kennesaw, GA | On-Site

Lead Operations. Build People. Drive Growth.

Are you a collaborative operations leader who believes great results come from great people?

Iron Age Office is seeking a Director of Operations to help lead our next chapter of growth. This is not a role for a top-down manager or someone who leads by title alone. We are looking for a servant leader who can earn trust, develop people, implement processes, and help scale a unique manufacturing operation while preserving the culture that makes Iron Age special.

At Iron Age Office, we design and manufacture handcrafted commercial furniture entirely under one roof in our 80,000-square-foot production facility in Kennesaw, Georgia. We have built a passionate team, a loyal customer base, and a reputation for quality craftsmanship that continues to fuel our growth.

If you are humble, hungry, smart, and energized by developing teams while improving operations, we'd love to talk with you.

What You'll Do

As Director of Operations, you will serve as the operational leader responsible for turning vision into execution while helping our teams perform at their highest level. You’ll work directly with the CEO and lead key production departments across the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop the Woodshop, Welding, and Shipping Managers while fostering a culture of trust, accountability, and teamwork.
  • Oversee daily manufacturing operations, including woodworking, welding, shipping, receiving, quality, safety, and production efficiency.
  • Build strong relationships throughout the organization and earn credibility with a highly engaged, internally developed workforce.
  • Help implement and improve systems that connect sales, production, scheduling, and invoicing workflows.
  • Lead operational improvement initiatives, KPI development, reporting, and process optimization.
  • Support the integration of new manufacturing technology, including a recently added steel laser and future CNC equipment.
  • Manage vendor relationships, purchasing, inventory, and supply chain activities.
  • Partner closely with the CEO to support continued company growth and operational scalability.
What Success Looks Like

The right person will:

  • Earn the trust and respect of the team before implementing change.
  • Coach and develop managers rather than dictate to them.
  • Create systems and processes that help the company scale efficiently.
  • Maintain the collaborative, high-retention culture that has made Iron Age successful.
  • Help drive the company's growth toward and beyond its next revenue milestones.
What We're Looking For Required Experience
  • 5+ years of operations leadership experience in manufacturing, fabrication, woodworking, metalworking, millwork, or a related production environment.
  • Experience leading multiple departments and developing managers.
  • Experience implementing or improving business systems such as CRM, ERP, production management, or workflow platforms.
  • Strong process improvement, planning, and operational execution skills.
Preferred Experience
  • Custom manufacturing, furniture manufacturing, woodworking, fabrication, or related production experience.
  • Experience with CNC equipment, laser technology, or modern manufacturing systems.
  • Industrial engineering or manufacturing operations leadership background.
The Right Personality

This is where the role is won or lost.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Leads with humility and respect.
  • Naturally uses "we" more than "I."
  • Enjoys coaching, mentoring, and developing others.
  • Values relationships as much as results.
  • Can connect with a younger workforce and build trust quickly.
  • Brings positive energy and genuine enthusiasm for helping people succeed.

This is not a fit for an authoritarian, command-and-control management style.

Compensation & Benefits
  • Competitive executive-level compensation package based on experience and qualifications
  • Performance-based bonus opportunity
  • Paid Time Off (PTO), with vacation time increasing based on years of service
  • 40 hours of paid sick time annually
  • 401(k) retirement plan with company match available after one year of service
  • Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance
  • Short-Term Disability Insurance
  • Long-Term Disability Insurance
  • Group Life Insurance
  • Full-Time, Exempt Position
  • On-Site in Kennesaw, GA
  • Opportunity to grow into a larger executive leadership role as the company continues to scale
Why Iron Age Office?

We aren’t just building furniture.

We’re building a company where people take pride in their craft, enjoy coming to work, and create products that customers genuinely love. Our team members have helped shape the culture from the ground up, and we’re looking for a leader who wants to invest in that culture while helping us reach the next level.

If that sounds like the kind of challenge you’re looking for, we’d love to hear from you.
