Job description

Hospital Purchasing Manager

Formulate and recommend hospital purchasing policy and procedures. Administering established program, including purchasing, inventory, storerooms, receiving, disturbing and surplus disposal. Review and approval of purchase orders within limits of established budget and policy Assist all departments with the control of supply and expenses and contract compliance. Assist with special projects on a facility level as well as with Allegiance Health Management. Participate in Allegiance Health Management calls and meetings, preparing reports for them as requested. Advises physicians and department managers concerning quantity, quality, availability and cost of equipment, materials, and supplies to ensure maximum efficiency in relation to available financial resources of the Health System in meeting program objectives in a timely and effective manner. Oversees the functionality of the Hospital Automated Supply Chain cabinets for Materials Management. Rents equipment and utilizes outside resources to maintain adequate needs for patient care Analyzes monthly expenses. Does annual budget for Materials Management. Sets up supply charges based on Formulary. Provides reports to the CFO on supply utilization analysis and capital expenditure management and other reports as requested. Coordinates usage trend studies upon request. Negotiates and acts as the contact person for all purchase agreements with the various distributors for materials that may or may not be addressed by a group purchasing organization. Interviews sales representatives and reviews vendor performance data in relation to overall service rendered. Coordinates the maintenance of supplies in the hospital in emergency situations. Ensures that the Materials Management Department follows established safe practices for receiving hazardous substances. Develops department staff via ongoing in-service education, on-the-job training, coaching, counseling, evaluations and open departmental meetings. Any other duties assigned as needed to help drive our Mission and abide by our organizations values.
