THE TEAM As part of the Engineering Division, which focuses on ensuring the safety, efficiency, and sustainability of all hotel assets, this role contributes to the strategic and operational excellence of the property. You will report directly to the Director of Engineering, collaborating closely with senior leadership, cross-functional departments, and external partners to uphold Rosewood's standards of luxury and innovation. YOUR ROLE As Assistant Director of Engineering, you will lead the strategic direction and daily operations of the Engineering division, ensuring the optimal performance and longevity of the hotel's physical assets. You will play a key role in driving energy efficiency, regulatory compliance, and guest satisfaction, while fostering a culture of excellence and innovation. This role is instrumental in shaping the future of the property through capital planning, sustainability initiatives, and team development. HOW YOU'LL MAKE THE PLACE * Hands on ability to resolve issues and outstanding assignments as needed and in emergency situations. * Oversee all plant, equipment, and structural maintenance to ensure safety and operational efficiency. * Implement and manage preventive maintenance programs across guest rooms, public areas, kitchens, and restaurants. * Drive energy management initiatives and conservation efforts without compromising guest comfort. * Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, fire codes, and internal safety policies. * Represent Engineering in management and associate meetings, fostering cross-departmental collaboration. * Support pre-opening strategy and execution, overseeing all activities within the Engineering division, in close partnership with peers and the corporate team. * Maintain readiness for Operational Management Reviews (OMR) and ensure timely follow-up on corrective actions. * Develop and update departmental policies and manuals to ensure consistency across the group. * Act in capacity of Director of Engineering during his/her absence. * Build and lead a technically competent and motivated engineering team through recruitment, training, and succession planning. * Promote associate engagement through regular communication, recognition programs, and performance feedback. * Uphold discipline and support grievance procedures in partnership with Talent & Culture. * Model Rosewood's culture, vision, and values in all interactions and leadership practices. COULD THIS BE YOU? * You hold a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and or qualification in Engineering. * You have proven experience in leading an engineering function at a senior management level. * You demonstrate strong strategic thinking and project management capabilities. * You show solid business acumen and have experience managing complex budgets, including capital expenditure. * You possess excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills. * You manage relationships effectively with both internal and external stakeholders. * You are knowledgeable with all relevant hospitality/building laws and regulations, positioning you as a knowledgeable engineering professional within the US and California. * You maintain a guest-centric mindset with a strong commitment to service excellence. * You apply an analytical, data-driven approach to decision-making. * Your experience in hospitality or luxury environments further strengthens your profile.
