Job Description
The Deputy Commander of the Macon County Law Enforcement Training Center (MCLETC) serves as a senior leadership official responsible for assisting the Commander of the MCLETC in the administration, coordination, and oversight of all academy operations and property. This position ensures the quality of standards set forth by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board (ILETSB) in preparing police recruits, correctional officers, experienced officers and specialized personnel for success as professional law enforcement officers. The position will assume overall command of operations in the absence of the Commander and be responsible for the direct supervision of the Director of Training, along with supervision of the Class Coordinator, Staff, Instructors and Advisors in the absence of their direct supervisor. The position will be responsible for communicating with and recruiting Law Enforcement Agencies as needed to continue to fill the student enrollment at the MCLETC.
Required Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's Degree in a Criminal Justice field or other related field and at least five years of experience in a senior criminal justice administrator position required (Lieutenant, Captain, Colonel, Deputy Chief, Chief Deputy, Chief, Sheriff).
The position requires leadership experience with executive level leadership training through the Federal Bureau of Investigations National Academy, Northwestern University School of Staff and Command or University of Louisville Southern Police Institute. Additionally, the position requires a background in law enforcement training, operations, budgets and policing strategies.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Must have a demonstrated ability to work effectively with persons of diverse backgrounds, including faculty, criminal justice trainees, professionals, and administrators. Excellent communication skills are essential, as well as general knowledge in areas of foundation of law enforcement, law, the police/corrections function and human behavior, patrol, criminal and internal investigations, traffic, police proficiency, firearms and officer wellness.
Must have ability to use Canvas LMS and Microsoft Office Suite software, including Excel, Word, Publisher, and Access.

EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
Typical hours are variable according to training schedules and may include nights and weekends. Common work hours are Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm. This position is not eligible to participate in the alternative work arrangement program.
TRAVEL
Periodic travel in and out of state for meetings, training, conferences and seminars as required.

E15 ($89,646.50-$112,058.12)
