As the Director of Land Development, you will join the senior leadership of RICK to expand and guide our Tucson officeโ€™s land development operations throughout the Tucson area and greater Arizona. This position oversees a diverse portfolio of residential, commercial, and mixed-use development projects while leading and mentoring engineering teams. The Director of Land Development also fosters valuable partnerships to drive business development efforts with private developers, landowners, and higher-education institutions. This role has the potential to transition into the next step of management and to an ownership level in the Tucson office.

Responsibilities

ยท Leads, mentors, and grows Tucsonโ€™s Land Development Division

ยท Serves as the trusted advisor and primary point of contact throughout the project lifecycle, including providing expert guidance on the design process, delivering regular progress updates, and ensuring alignment of project scope, schedule, and budget

ยท Leads project teams by establishing clear expectations, ensuring technical excellence, and promoting a collaborative environment focused on efficiency, quality, and innovation

ยทChampions mentoring, training, and professional development initiatives to strengthen staff capabilities and support career progression within the team

ยท Works with Principals within RICK and provides strategic input on business development opportunities; supports firm growth through client retention and new project pursuits

ยท Maintains strong, active relationships across the Arizona developer and builder community, leveraging industry connections to identify opportunities and strengthen client partnerships

ยทParticipates in land development and related professional organizations

Requirements

ยท Bachelorโ€™s degree in civil engineering from an accredited college

ยท Registered Arizona Professional Engineer (P.E.) license

ยท 15+ years of relevant experience managing land development projects within the constraints of scope, schedule, budget, and performance requirements

ยทProven ability to lead teams to success, including experience directly reviewing and managing employee performance, as well as mentoring a civil engineering team

ยทInitiative to accept and carry out responsibility for the design team's direction, control, and planning; ability to set realistic goals and make plans independently

ยทAbility to perform constructability reviews and site construction conformance evaluations

ยทExtensive client contacts and relationships with local architects, developers, land use attorneys, planners, and public agencies

ยทExperience with business development and client management, including obtaining both new and repeat business

ยทAutoCAD/Civil 3D, Microsoft Project, and Bluebeam experience
