Carney, Sandoe & Associates, an educational recruitment firm, is currently seekinga Director of Instrumental Music starting in Fall 2026 at an independent school in The Woodlands, TX.

Director of Instrumental Music Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement curriculum that aligns with school's mission.
  • Conduct school instrumental performances including concerts, ceremonies, and community outreach events.
  • Recruit students and encourage continued participation for school band.
  • Track inventory of uniforms, equipment, and instruments.
  • Manage annual music department budget ensuring strategic allocation of resources.
  • Oversee extracurricular music clubs for students such as pep band or ensemble.
  • Collaborate with performing arts department staff to support school productions and events.
  • Build strong relationships through clear and consistent communication with families, students, and colleagues, including timely updates on student progress and effective interpersonal, written, and oral communication
  • Participate in ongoing professional development to improve instructional practices and remain current with trends in the field.

Director of Instrumental Music Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Music or related field.
  • At least 3-5 years of independent school instrumental music teaching experience required.
  • Strong vocal and instrumental skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • U.S. Work Authorization required.

Additional Desired Qualities:

  • Independent school administrative experience preferred.
