Job Summary
The position of Assistant Golf Professional is responsible to help oversee the daily operations of the golf course and provide customer service to members and their guests. As an assistant golf professional, your job duties include doing club fittings and repairs, serving as course attendant, and checking golfers in and out according to their tee times.
Primary Responsibilities & Essential Functions
  • Assists the Head Golf Professional with planning, promoting, and directing all golf activities professionally and enthusiastically
  • Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of golf operations; manage the day-to-day personnel function; carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Club's polices and applicable laws
  • Administers and enforces all rules and regulations, policies and procedures as required by the company related to applicable staff positions
  • Incorporate safe work practices and trains staff in the proper and safe use of equipment
  • Report unsafe conditions to management
  • Makes recommendations for the hiring and manages the training/supervision of all outside golf operations personnel
  • Directly responsible for recommending the hiring, training, guiding, and enhancing of the: Assistant Golf Professionals Outside Golf Operations Staff
  • Manage, train and motivate staff to provide consistently outstanding membership service levels
  • Perform evaluations yearly for all staff that he/she manages
  • Administer, interpret, and enforce all club rules and policies that govern the use of the course, golf cars, and other golf-related facilities
  • Makes schedules for Golf Shop and Outside Operations staff to assure that members and guests are fully serviced and that labor costs are maintained
  • Orders supplies associated with golf operations within budget
  • Assist Director of Golf with tracking of expenses and revenues
  • Ensures that the golf car fleet is maintained according to standards and properly operated by staff
  • Plays golf with members of all skill-levels
  • Be open and interested in members' suggestions, resolving issues as they arise, including presentation of more difficult issues and possible solutions to the General Manager
  • Member communication regarding all upcoming golf events, course closures and any other important information
  • Ensure that the practice facilities and their surrounding are always up to standards and ready for member/guest usage as needed
  • Coordinates/develops teaching programs for students of all skill levels
  • Assists with organizing and conducting club tournaments, outside outings and related events
  • Work closely with the Golf Course Superintendent to communicate tournaments and events, course conditions and maintenance scheduling
  • Golf Reception desk coverage including Point of Sale duties as needed
  • Assist with month end inventory as needed
  • Operate and maintain a reputable golf shop and practice facility that features a range of quality merchandise and services reflective of members' needs; oversee the ordering of and/or may order merchandise for golf shop and provides the best selection possible within the constraints of inventory and quality limits in adherence with Club standards
  • All other duties as assigned

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Professional Golf Management is heavily preferred
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and communicate in basic English required to communicate with guests and members.
  • Must have proven abilities & knowledge of golf operations
  • Previous customer experience preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years golf operations experience, preferably at a private club

  • Ability to spend entire shift on feet and walking (sometimes running)

  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and kneel while handling equipment
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions such as cleaning or retrieving balls
  • Occasional keyboarding
