Riggs Washington DC sits on the iconic downtown corner of Penn Quarter's 9th and F Street in a historic building once home to Riggs National Bank. Each of the Hotel's 181 guest rooms offers a playful nod to the building's legacy. Riggs is home to the all-occasion European brasserie-inspired restaurant Café Riggs, as well as Silver Lyan - a subterranean bar from the internationally acclaimed Ryan Chetiyawardana, also known as Mr Lyan.
Assistant Director of FinaThe Assistant Director of Finance supports the Director of Finance in overseeing the financial operations of the hotel. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong internal controls, and supporting strategic decision-making through financial analysis and forecasting. The ideal candidate is adaptable, resourceful, calm under pressure, and thrives in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
Working closely with department leaders, the Assistant Director of Finance plays a key role in maintaining the financial health of the property while ensuring compliance with all regulatory and company standards.
Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Director of Finance in the day-to-day financial operations of the hotel, ensuring compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
  • Assist with daily audits of cash deposits, cash handling procedures, and financial transactions to ensure accuracy and proper internal controls.
  • Monitor and review hotel revenues, purchases, payroll, and expenses to ensure financial integrity and cost control.
  • Analyze operational and financial data to provide insights and recommendations that support effective business decisions.
  • Prepare and review monthly financial statements and assist in the preparation and presentation of the Monthly Report of Operations.
  • Assist with the preparation of budgets and forecasts, including annual budgets, revised forecasts, and monthly projections.
  • Review tax filings to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Prepare monthly accruals, including utilities and telecommunications expenses.
  • Monitor inventory records and controls to ensure accuracy and proper distribution of supplies.
  • Review and approve food and beverage disbursements and other financial transactions as required.
  • Assist with oversight of contracts, licenses, permits, insurance documentation, and other legal agreements to ensure compliance.
  • Partner with department leaders across the hotel to support financial planning, operational efficiency, and cost management.
  • Assists with management and development of finance teams
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Previous experience as an Assistant Director of Finance, Assistant Controller, or similar finance leadership role, preferably within the hospitality industry.
  • Strong financial analysis, reporting, and forecasting skills.
  • Ability to analyze large volumes of complex financial data and translate insights into clear reports and recommendations for senior leadership.
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated with a proactive and solution-oriented mindset.

Pay Range: 95,000 - 110,000 Annually
