Job description

Description

The Director of Business Development is responsible for leading strategic growth initiatives that expand CentroMed's reach, strengthen partnerships, and enhance access to high-quality, patient-centered care. This role oversees market expansion, service line development, community engagement strategies, and revenue-generating opportunities aligned with the organization's mission to improve health outcomes for underserved and diverse populations. The Director reports to the Vice President/Chief Strategy Officer and collaborates closely with clinical, operational, and financial leadership.

Strategic Growth & Planning

Develop and execute a comprehensive business development strategy that supports organizational growth and expands access to care.

Identify and evaluate new service lines, programs, and partnership opportunities, including primary care, behavioral health, dental, specialty services, and community wellness initiatives.

Lead market research and competitive analysis to understand unmet community needs and emerging trends.

Partnership Development

Build and maintain strategic relationships with hospitals, payers, government agencies, schools, employers, nonprofit partners, and community organizations.

Lead negotiation and execution of business agreements, MOUs, affiliation agreements, and partnership contracts.

Represent the organization at external meetings, coalitions, and community engagement events.

Program Expansion & Innovation

Drive the development and launch of new programs and initiatives. 

Collaborate with clinical and operational leaders to design sustainable program models, including staffing, workflows, and financial projections.

Monitor program performance and guide continuous improvement initiatives.

Revenue Growth & Financial Stewardship

Work with Finance to analyze the financial viability of new opportunities, including payer incentives, grants, and alternative payment models.

Support development and diversification of revenue streams through value-based care partnerships, employer services, grants, and community contracts.

Track KPIs and report on business development outcomes to executive leadership.

Community Engagement & Advocacy

Strengthen the health center's presence in the community through targeted outreach and strategic partnerships.

Identify opportunities to address social determinants of health through collaboration with community-based organizations.

Advocate for the organization's mission with policymakers, funders, and community leaders.

Leadership & Collaboration

Facilitate cross-functional collaboration across clinical, operations, marketing, and compliance teams.

Contribute to organizational strategic planning and annual goal-setting.

Participates on assigned C/PI committees and ensures compliance with applicable laws, regulations or standards promulgated by federal, state, local or national accreditation agencies.

Understands and upholds CentroMed's mission and values relating to ethics, integrity, safety, corporate responsibility and objectives

Actively participates in maintaining high levels of excellent customer service internally and externally

Participates in agency's Quality Improvement program

Abide by all policies and procedures set forth by CentroMed

Ensures the protection and security of all personal, confidential and identifiable information in a professional and responsible manner and carries out all measures to prevent from unauthorized disclosures. Demonstrating and maintaining the standards and requirements of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

Assists in training new employees in performing their job duties as requested.

Performs all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards.

Performs other duties assigned.

Work must be performed on-site as designated


Requirements

Education

? Bachelor's degree required (Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, or related field).

? Master's degree preferred (MBA, MHA, MPH).

Experience

? 7+ years of progressive experience in business development, healthcare operations, strategy, or related fields.

? Experience working in community health centers, FQHCs, nonprofit healthcare, or safety net health systems strongly preferred.

? Demonstrated success in leading partnerships, program development, or market expansion initiatives.

Skills and Competencies              

? Strong understanding of community health center operations, value-based care, and population health.

? Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.

? Ability to interpret financial and clinical data to support decision-making.

? Entrepreneurial mindset with ability to drive projects from concept to execution.

? Culturally competent and committed to health equity.

Work Environment

? Full-time, leadership-level role.

? Some travel required for community meetings, partner visits, and external events.
