ROLE SUMMARY: Responsible for assisting the Director of Animation Art in cataloging, processing consignments for auction, building relationships with bidders and consignors, and providing specialist opinions for evaluating, authenticating, and cataloging animation art properties consigned for online and catalog display. This is NOT a graphic/illustration designer position.


LOCATION: South of Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, NW corner of W. Airport Freeway (Hwy. 183) and Valley View Lane

COMPENSATION: Commensurate based on experience.


ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Candidate should be well acquainted with Animation Art and Anime Art, including but not limited to extensive knowledge of major animation studios, anime studios, and their associated properties, films, and television productions.
  • Evaluates Animation Art / Anime Art, including production art, drawings, concept art, cels, and cel background art.
  • Schedules Animation Art / Anime Art consignments for auction.
  • Writes descriptions for online and catalog display based on notes from consignors, the Director of Animation Art, and personal subject-matter expertise.
  • Answers inquiries from bidders and consignors related to animation and anime art.
  • Assists at previews and actively participates in auctions.
Requirements:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Must have a high school degree or equivalent.
  • Must have a minimum of two years of education and/or experience evaluating animation art, or the ability to demonstrate comparable expertise.
  • Extensive knowledge of hand-drawn animation art history and physical animation art is required.
  • Knowledge of all major animation studios and their key properties is required.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong multitasking ability with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Positive attitude with outstanding customer service skills.
  • Public speaking abilities are a plus.
