What we want

The College Recruiter, under general supervision of the Director of College Recruitment, executes undergraduate recruitment efforts consistent with the College's strategic enrollment management goals. Works directly with prospective students and parents through the admissions, scholarship, and financial aid application process. Assists in recruitment and outreach training, assists in supervision of student workers and assists in serving as a Campus Programs for Minors Liaison (CPML) for the College in partnership with University Youth Programs in accordance with Section 2.2 of University Rule 24.01.06.M1 - Campus Programs for Minors (https://rulesadmin.tamu.edu/rules/download/24.01.06.M1).

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Four years of program administration experience and advising, recruiting or related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate in Spanish (Texas A&M University is designated as a Hispanic Serving Institution/HSI).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to serve all constituencies in a fair and supportive manner (including academic programs, prospective students and their families, etc.).

  • Demonstrated knowledge of higher education.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.

  • Excellent oral and written communication, analytical, interpersonal, and customer service skills.

  • Ability to multitask and effectively work cooperatively with others.

  • Ability to work with a wide range of personalities and communicate effectively with leaders.

  • Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

Recruitment and Matriculation

  • Executes undergraduate recruitment efforts consistent with the College's strategic enrollment management goals.

  • Identifies, recruits, and contributes to increasing the population of admitted and enrolled students in designated high schools and regions.

  • Works directly with prospective students and parents through the entire admissions, scholarship, and financial aid application process.

  • Follows-up on specific questions and troubleshoots or refers as needed.

  • Coordinates and implements recruitment activities such as campus trips, presentations, resource tables, application workshops and designated area projects.

  • Travels to assigned community colleges, universities, prospective student centers, high schools, and other locations to represent the College of Performance, Visualization & Fine Arts.

  • Organizes, implements, and reports on programs/projects.

  • Provides general information on scholarships, loans, grants, and student employment.

  • Makes referrals to the Aggie One Stop Shop.

Customer Service

  • Coordinates with high school counselors to facilitate the admissions, financial aid, and scholarship application process.

  • Develops, implements, and manages recruitment and financial aid early awareness programs.

  • Conducts presentations and work at resource tables as requested to include local, state and regional conferences.

  • Establishes community contacts in select areas in the market or region.

  • Develops working relationships with university agencies, departments, counselors and advisors to enhance customer service and satisfaction.

  • Assists in the training of college faculty/staff regarding admissions and financial aid rules, regulations, policies and procedures, as well as how to develop and maintain relationships in high schools and community agencies.

Other Duties

  • Assist in serving as a Campus Programs for Minors Liaison (CPML) for the College in partnership with University Youth Programs in accordance with Section 2.2 of University Rule 24.01.06.M1 - Campus Programs for Minors (https://rulesadmin.tamu.edu/rules/download/24.01.06.M1).

  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Knowledge

  • Maintains knowledge of current federal, state and institutional policies, procedures and regulations pertaining to financial aid and admissions.

  • Attends local and state workshops and conferences; may serve on university, divisional and departmental committees.
