Job description

Summary
The eLearning Associate designs and develops eLearning events and products that position AIHA as a leader in providing innovative learning experiences to OHS professionals. The eLearning Associate is a core contributor to growing and enhancing AIHA’s eLearning portfolio, which includes online conferences, webinars, live and asynchronous self-study courses, and OnDemand recordings. The Associate works closely with internal project teams and subject matter experts to design, develop, implement, and evaluate online learning products throughout the project lifecycle.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Instructional Design & Development
  • Design, develop, and author highly effective, results-driven eLearning products to support the learning and development needs of OHS professionals and other target audiences.
  • Engage and collaborate with stakeholders and subject matter experts (SMEs) to conduct needs analyses, identify knowledge, skills, and ability gaps, and define learning objectives, modalities, and learner expectations.
  • Create prototypes, storyboards, and design documentation that effectively communicate design.
  • Leverage appropriate instructional strategies based on content type, learner attributes, delivery platforms, and business need.
  • Develop detailed design plans, which include key activities, timelines, and resource requirements needed to achieve objectives.
  • Clearly articulate rationale for learning approaches based on sound learning science, adult learning principles, and web accessibility standards.
  • Apply project management knowledge, skills, tools, and techniques to support projects from initiation to project delivery.
  • Effectively utilize design models such as ADDIE, SAM, and design thinking.
  • Manage relationships with volunteer subject matter experts and project stakeholders to facilitate content development, reviews, approvals, and successful project completion. Effectively guide volunteers through the course development process, balance competing perspectives, and ensure projects remain on schedule while maintaining positive working relationships.
  • Consult with subject matter experts to transform technical content into engaging, learner-centered educational experiences.
  • Analyze learner feedback, participation data, and assessment results to evaluate program effectiveness and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Keep informed of new technologies impacting operations and strategies to ensure current and effective learning content

Financial Responsibilities
  • In coordination with the Program Director, contribute to the planning, pricing, promotion, and evaluation of online education products to support program growth and revenue goals.
  • In coordination with the Program Director, develop accurate projections, monitor income and expenses, and ensure the maintenance of accurate and detailed records
General
  • Pursue professional development opportunities to stay apprised of innovative and emerging techniques, platforms and methodologies in the eLearning and adult education fields.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) or some combination of training and education experience that demonstrates the necessary skills and abilities for the position. Master’s degree in adult education, instructional design, or other related program preferred.
 
  • Required:
    • 2 years of related experience working within an association or nonprofit environment
    • 3–5 years of experience with education program design, development, delivery, and evaluation.
    • Experience authoring eLearning course content and developing scenarios
    • Experience writing and recording audio and video scripts
    • Experience using common eLearning authoring tools and design software (Microsoft PowerPoint, Adobe Captivate, Articulate Storyline/Rise 360, Adobe Creative Suite)
    • Experience with video and audio production
    • Experience working with Learning Management Systems (LMS), including SCORM packaging, testing and uploading courses.
    • Knowledge of adult learning principles and continuing education best practices
    • Familiarity with emerging learning technologies, learning analytics, and AI-assisted content development tools.
    • Demonstrated experience managing content development projects involving volunteer subject matter experts, including coordinating reviews, facilitating feedback, and maintaining project timelines.
    • Ability to interpret learner data and evaluation metrics to drive decision-making.
    • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and deadlines.
    • Experience leading project teams and coordinating cross-functional stakeholders.

Remote Work & Residency Requirements
This position is eligible to work remotely up to 5 days per week.  At a minimum, all members of staff are expected to come in monthly for department meetings and staff meetings.
Based on our business set-up and to maximize remote work opportunities, AIHA only employs individuals who live in Washington, DC, Maryland, or Virginia. To be considered, a candidate must live in, or be willing to relocate to, Washington, DC, Maryland, or Virginia.
Salary
The pay for this position ranges from $80,000 to $87,500.
