Job Description
Knobelsdorff is looking for a bold, business-minded Director of Learning & Development who is energized by building, optimizing, and scaling high-impact learning programs. What You'll Do
Enterprise L&D Strategy
  • Set and execute Knobelsdorff's enterprise Learning & Development strategy aligned with business objectives, core values, and long-term workforce needs.
  • Partner closely with divisional leadership to ensure learning priorities are driven by business strategy, risk, and capability needs.

High-Impact Learning Programs
  • Oversee the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of leadership development, technical training, apprenticeship programs, onboarding, and compliance training.
  • Manage the company-wide Learning Resource Library and ensure all employees have access to relevant, high-quality learning content.

Project & Portfolio Leadership
  • Lead a high-performing L&D team with a strong operating rhythm-1:1s, weekly priorities, project check-ins, and disciplined execution.
  • Oversee a portfolio of learning initiatives, ensuring projects stay aligned, on track, and on budget.

Strategic Talent Partnership
  • Collaborate with divisional leaders, HR, and operations to identify capability gaps, support succession planning, and advise on talent development strategies.
  • Serve as a trusted advocate for employee growth and organizational readiness.

Operational Excellence
  • Develop and manage annual training plans, calendars, budgets, grants, vendors, and apprenticeship programs.
  • Establish KPIs to measure program effectiveness and demonstrate ROI.
  • Audit and assess all training initiatives to ensure alignment, impact, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications
You're someone who shows up ready to work hard, learn fast, and contribute to a team that takes pride in doing things right. Successful candidates typically bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in HR, Organizational Development, Education, Business, or related field.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in Learning & Development, Talent Development, or Organizational Development, including leadership responsibility.
  • Proven ability to build and execute enterprise-level L&D strategies and project plans that drive measurable business impact.
  • Demonstrated success leading leadership development, technical training, onboarding, compliance, and employee development programs.
  • Experience building and developing high-performing teams (trainers, instructional designers, program managers).
  • Strong business acumen and the ability to partner effectively with executive and operational leaders.
  • Experience managing L&D budgets, vendors, and learning technologies (LMS, digital libraries, virtual learning platforms).
  • Working knowledge of compliance-related training requirements.
  • Ability to establish metrics, evaluate program effectiveness, and communicate results.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and change management skills.
  • Proficiency with LMS platforms and training technologies

  • Experience in construction, manufacturing, industrial, or skilled trades environments.
