The Director is responsible for the overall leadership, administration, and daily operations of the center. The Director ensures compliance with state licensing regulations, maintains high quality educational programming, supervises staff, and fosters positive relationships with children, families, and the community. The Director creates a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environment that supports children’s growth and school readiness.
Duties and Responsibilities
Leadership & Administration
· Oversee daily operations of the center
· Ensure compliance with all State of Michigan licensing regulations and local requirements
· Maintain required records and documentation
· Develop and implement policies and procedures
· Manage enrollment and classroom ratios
· Handle parent concerns and conflict resolution professionally
· Maintain Brightwheel management system
Curriculum & Program Oversight
· Ensure implementation of curriculum
· Monitor lesson plans and classroom environments
· Support teachers in creating engaging learning experiences
· Promote school readiness and social emotional development
Staff Management
· Train and supervise teaching and support staff
· Conduct staff evaluations and provide ongoing coaching
· Address staff performance concerns and implement corrective action when necessary
· Develop staff schedules and manage time off requests
· Foster a positive and collaborative team culture
· Facilitate staff meetings
Heath & Safety
· Ensure adherence to health and safety guidelines
· Maintain emergency preparedness plans
· Monitor incident reports
Family & Community Engagement
· Build strong relationships with families
· Communicate center policies, events, and updates
· Organize family engagement activities
· Represent the center within the community
Qualifications
· Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field
· Minimum of 2 years experience in a licensed child care setting
· Minimum of 2–3 years of supervisory or leadership experience
· Knowledge of State of Michigan child care licensing regulations
· CPR and First Aid Certification
· Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
