The Cost Accountant is a member of the accounting team that reports to the Cost Accounting Manager. The successful candidate will have a knowledge and understanding of cost accounting principles as well as be detail-oriented with analytical and problem-solving skills.  This position will impact a rapidly growing organization and offers career development opportunities.

Responsibilities
  • Help to track and monitor raw materials and consumables inventory
  • Support with the identification of potential excess and obsolete inventory in coordination with Supply Chain and Operations
  • Aid in monitoring job close variances and provide root cause analysis
  • Assist in month end close process for inventory and cost of sales
  • Responsible for preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations, for areas such as inventory, work in process, job variances, returned material, cost of sales
  • Maintain financial security by adhering to internal accounting controls
  • Perform ad hoc analysis and projects as requested
  • Assist in preparing reports required for financial audits and management as needed
  • Contribute in the ongoing maintenance of our ERP system to maintain accurate information and proper accounting
  • Develop process controls and documentation
  • Maintain detailed and organized accounting records
  • Coordinate and / or support cross-functional requirements and continuous improvement initiatives
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting Related Field or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of experience in Cost Accounting work
  • Sound understanding of accounting principles
  • Analytical thinker with strong conceptual and problem-solving skills

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Self-directed and able to perform assignments independently; demonstrate proactive approach and is flexible with regards to change
  • Knowledge of Epicor ERP systems
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize workload

Compensation
  • The compensation for this role is competitive and will be based on experience and qualifications. The anticipated range is $65k-94K.
