Job description

Inova Fairfax Medical Campus is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible Pediatrician with specialized expertise in Child Abuse to join our team as Medical Director of the Forensic Assessment and Consultation Team. This is a full-time leadership position offering a sign-on bonus and relocation assistance.

Based in Falls Church, VA, just minutes from Washington, D.C., this role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact within a nationally recognized health system. The ideal candidate will be a board-certified Child Abuse Pediatrician with experience in all forms of child maltreatment, and demonstrated commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration and clinical excellence.

The Inova Ewing FACT Department addresses the unique needs of abused children and adults in Northern Virginia. Our team provides care to over 1,000 patients a year. We serve all counties in Northern Virginia including military installations. This includes adult and pediatric physical and sexual abuse, domestic and intimate partner violence, strangulation and human trafficking. We offer expert medical evaluation, forensic evidence collection and provide expert interpretation based on training and experience. Our program provides inpatient consultations at the Inova Fairfax Hospital complex that includes the Inova Fairfax Hospital for Children. Outpatient consultations occur at our four clinics located in Alexandria, Vienna, Falls Church, and Leesburg, Virginia. Our forensic nurse examiners provide 24/7 coverage for sexual assault and abuse, DV/IPV and strangulation cases. We work closely with local child advocacy centers and multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless.

Child Abuse Physician and Medical Director Job Responsibilities:

  • This position would be a part of a team consisting of forensic nurse examiners, clinical manager, director, practice manager, executive director, adult medical director, and medical assistant.
  • Responsibilities include forensic evaluations and consultation in child physical abuse and neglect, supervision of forensic nurse examiners, providing education to colleagues, medical students and community partners, and collaborate with community partners and multidisciplinary teams.
  • This position requires you to participate in quality informatics, policy review including standing orders, provide peer and expert review of forensic examinations, be available by phone to assist with patient care for deviations from standing orders.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Doctor of Medicine degree from an accredited institution. Board eligible or board certified in Pediatric Child Abuse
  • Experience: successful completion of Pediatrics residency program and Pediatric Child Abuse fellowship
  • Licensure: Current or eligibility for an unrestricted Virginia state medical license and DEA
  • Payer Credentialing: Ability to successfully complete the credentialing process by third-party payors and Ability to enrolled as a CMS Medicare/Medicaid payor
  • Medical Staff Credentialing: Successful completion of credentialing for Medical Staff membership and appropriate clinical privileges sufficient to perform all required services

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Completion of Pediatric Child Abuse Fellowship preferred
