Involves assessing, planning, organizing, scheduling and supervising the work of all PSA personnel engaged in maintaining the facility in a clean, safe and orderly condition. Will continuously make rounds of the hospital to determine special assignments or project work which is needed. Makes inspections to evaluate the effectiveness of the department. Plans and conducts bi-weekly meetings to enhance each employee's knowledge of their duties. Ensures "specific" training of each new employee is carried out and documented. Other supervision and resources as requested by the department manager/director. Works in a fast paced and potentially stressful environment. Makes decisions to act on responsibilities without being instructed. Trains staff in facility and department standards designed for a specific environment. Dresses to meet dress code specified for a leadership position. Practices good public relations and follows all safety regulations.
Ability to train, lead and motivate people. Displays leadership ability and possesses the desire to cooperate with internal and external customers. Must be able to read and write legibly, fill out reports and any necessary paperwork to complete shift responsibilities. Must be able to accomplish a wide variety of tasks in specified times, work in self-directed work teams with minimal direction. Can correctly carry out designated duties and responsibilities of this position. Complies with the center policies and procedures as presented in orientation and contained in the employee orientation and demonstrates knowledge on safety/infection control practices. Assist with training employees. Dresses to meet dress code specified for a leadership role. Practices good public relations and follows all safety regulations.

  • Maintains friendly, efficient spirit of Service attitude towards customers, clients and co-workers.
  • Understands and can utilize technology equipment to perform duties. Can Log onto the hospital network and utilize Email.
  • Can Use the Kronos system and correctly manage employee's time and attendance. Works with the Manager and HR to resolve employee issues. Hold staff accountable when not in compliance with AMC time and attendance policy.
  • Can perform inspections on any type of room that PSA is responsible for and enter findings in Facility Fit for appropriate documentation.
  • Complete all monthly/weekly/daily department required work as well as any additional work requested by Environmental Services Management.
  • Complete, document, and retain patient interviews.
  • Can appropriately utilize a two-way radio for communications. Can use the telephone paging service to page personnel as well as have knowledge of how the paging system works.
  • Orients to the needs of the environment by accepting task assignments from the appropriate Manager, Director. Also delegate tasks to correct PSA staff and follow up after delegation.
  • Anticipates and/or responds to Service Recovery, and customer requests or needs.
  • Answer trouble calls and dispatch them to appropriate staff as well as follow up after dispatching.
  • Respond to Code calls and possess the ability to train staff on what PSA role is during code calls.
  • Identifies and reports maintenance needs to Call center as directed. Reports any specialized cleaning(carpet, floor care, walls, etc)to appropriate Environmental services supervisor/manager.
  • Can perform the duties of PSA, PSA GL, or PSA Coordinator when in times of need.
  • Fills in for other supervisors as required, covering their areas and people.
  • Represents the department well by treating all employees and customers with respect and professionalism.
  • Coaches, Trains and re-trains employees on a regular basis on Hospital policies and procedures, then documents that training.
  • Uses proper lifting procedures when moving or lifting materials. Follows infection control, safety and departmental policies.
  • Uses proper precautions and PPE while using and diluting chemicals.
  • Has a working knowledge of the department's cleaning chemical inventory. Has a working knowledge of the department's equipment inventory. โ€ข
  • Performs regular department tours and rounding with customers to identify areas in need of improvement and ensure continued customer satisfaction.
  • Attends and participates in In-service Education Programs.
  • Assures the availability of supplies in order to be able to carry out assignments. Maintains employee work schedules, approves vacation time.
  • Wears a clean, neat, hospital approved apparel with Center Identification Id.
  • Sets an example for all departmental staff to follow in areas of quality and quantity of work, productivity, attendance, public relations, dress and grooming, etc.
  • Maintains sign-in/out log so other team members have knowledge of whereabouts so to maintain service levels.
  • Adheres to all established systems and training programs to provide a safe working environment. Complies with all OSHA regulations and other local, state and federal government regulations.
  • Recognizes and adopts activities appropriate to the specific needs of the patient/resident population and demonstrates knowledge of specific issues directly related to age of patient/resident population.
  • Maintains all records and reports necessary to comply with AMC standards, government and accrediting agency standards, regulations and codes. Maintains compliance with Albany Medical Center's Annual Education Requirements, Annual Health Requirements, Code of Conduct and Confidentiality Statements.
