This is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children who have experienced neglect, abandonment, abuse, or other difficult circumstances.

About Kids Kottage

Adams and Associates provides emergency shelter management services at the Kids Kottage campus in Reno, Nevada, for the Washoe County Human Services Agency.

We serve youth from infancy through age 18 and provide care 24 hours a day, seven days a week—including holidays.

Our goal is simple but powerful: to provide children with a safe, nurturing, dependable environment during some of the most challenging moments of their lives.

Kids Kottage supports children through compassionate care, structured routines, and trauma-informed practices. We also provide comprehensive staff training on operational policies and procedures, including:

  • First Aid and CPR

What You’ll Do

As the Administrative Director of Kids Kottage, you’ll help ensure that every part of our operation runs smoothly, safely, and with purpose. You will:

  • Lead and oversee Kottage programs, activities, and staff.
  • Directly supervise Program Directors and the Administrative Coordinator.
  • Support a positive, caring, and accountable workplace culture.
  • Ensure compliance with Washoe County directives and State of Nevada child care regulations.
  • Interpret and implement organizational policies and procedures.
  • Monitor financial practices and promote cost-effective operations.
  • Interview, recommend, schedule, and supervise Kottage employees.
  • Foster strong relationships with community partners and agencies.
  • Provide tours and presentations and assist with media contact as directed.
  • Maintain communication with Washoe County Human Services Agency staff regarding operations and contract compliance.
  • Establish and maintain effective health and safety policies.
  • Ensure staff meet required health and background investigation standards.
  • Maintain accurate personnel, enrollment, attendance, and program records.

Why This Role Matters

The Administrative Director helps set the tone for the entire Kids Kottage. Your leadership will support the staff who care for children every day, strengthen our programs, and help ensure that each child experiences stability, respect, encouragement, and hope.

This is meaningful work for someone who is ready to lead with both professionalism and heart.

Minimum Bachelor’s Degree required.  Must have a minimum of five years’ high-level administrative experience, at least three of which must have been in a management capacity.  Prefer previous experience in youth residential programs.

Staff must gain their clearance as a Direct Care Staff Member (DCSM).  This includes TB test, drug test (including Marijuana), background investigation, fingerprints, reference check, required training (up to 20 hours) and required immunizations.  All staff members must be willing and able to complete restraint certification.
